Do you recommend a 9mm or a .45?

Considered for a woman in this situation, I'd recommend a .22LR pistol. Light, low recoil, and certainly would stop a man from thinking about attacking her after a couple of rounds. Definitely takes the blood flow out of his dick. He might have a chance of survival after a round at center mass and make him seek medical help, if the goal is to stop an attack rather than kill the bastard. Yet, it still has lethality in it at close range.

There's lots of thought on the appropriate self-defense weapon. Any woman could handle a .22, it take more skill and dexterity to level up to 9mm. .45? Naw, hard to conceal that at the Burning Man type of event, and just too dang heavy for a lady.

Mrs. Baz used to carry a compact .45 loaded with Federal HydraShok hollow points. I do not recall that she ever needed it but it definitely made her feel more comfortable knowing that she could do damage to someone if she needed to.

I have a .22 Beretta that I've kept as a backup for 40 years now. The thing bucks like hell (worse than a 1911 .45 IMHO) and would be useless much past fifteen feet but in close with CCI MiniMags it would suffice.

I think I'd recommend something a bit heavier for a small person to use. Something that could absorb the recoil for them. Like a Ruger .22 which would be a couple more ounces heavier and with a 1/4" to 1/2" longer barrel.

Had a friend in college, a photography major ( wtf right) who did her senior portfolio called fat naked guys on bikes, all shot at burning man. One might think the scope was a bit to narrow but you’d be wrong. Went once, and that was enough. As a person that has never done any drug stronger than aspirin and isn’t a big drinker, it was kind of a nightmare. But I got laid… a lot. So there’s that.
