How does the Lit organization make money?

The Explore dropdown menu and the Control Panel dropdown from clicking on one's avatar are two different menus. The Toy Store is on the Control Panel, not Explore. Possibly they're conflated in mobile version, though, as the one @alohadave posted has elements from both of the ones I see on my desktop.

It's interesting how I've been an active participant in this site for close to 9 years, and there are all these little corners of it I know nothing about and don't participate in. I think many of us probably get so accustomed to the Author's Hangout that we think it's like Lit's Grand Central Station and probably most Lit users never come here and don't care at all about what we do or say here.

There have been 3.3 million posts in the Author's Hangout, but over 20 million in the Literotica Personals, which I don't think I've ever posted to. The General Board has over 17 million posts, and to me venturing into that place and the Politics Board is like telling yourself, "I think I'd like to walk in a pile of warm shit today." I don't get it. But I don't have to get it. The toy thing is unfamiliar to me, too.

It's like I used to think that most (not all, of course) people in the U.S. shared norms about how government and society should work... It's looking like the same sort of stats.

I clicked Explore again, to test your theory, and this time Toys shows up!!!! It's not just Toy Store that comes and goes, it's the whole Webcams, VOD, Toy Store sub menu..... Go figure.

Gather round for some lit lore from one of the AH's resident old farts.

Many of you may have heard of Scouries, a troll of legendary status. He did some nasty things here, but some of his schtick was so stupid it was amusing in the sense some people believed them.

He insisted he received royalties from lit. That Laurel paid him for every view on his stories.

A couple of people here used to get on the site for not shooting that down because it was misleading.

After years of this Laurel finally replied-it was to Keith D under his former name-and basically said "Why should I have to come out and say something that is so obviously a lie, is a lie?"

He also claimed to runa fake contest called "Air" and I can't recall what it stood for. But he would post the stats of the regular contest but say they were part of his contest and insisted he sent the winners prizes. This got interesting when a couple of author decided to play along and claim they received said prizes.

This place used to be a lot more interesting in a crazy kind of way.
