A world without sex, a secret illegal club

Futuristic world.

Male POV (I haven't fully worked out what the woman's POV would be like).

The world... doesn't have sex. Most people don't even know it exists.

You wake up in the morning. You have a shower. Then you place your penis in the draining machine. After you get on with the rest of your day.

Women are told if they have been nominated for pregnancy, and are provided with sperm under anaesthetic.

Everyone lives alone in small apartments. They work, socialise in official locations, and go to bed.

Our protagonist thinks he has a nice life. Maybe in his early 30s?

Until one day, he's invited into a top secret club. An underground resistance to the authoritarian world.

A club where men and women...have sex.

Soon he's hiding his membership from the government and exploring this new world.

Perhaps there was a pandemic that swept the world that was touch basd like Covid and dangerous, but when sexually transmitted proved lethal. In just a year, the worlds population was cut by a third. A century later, procreation and pleasure are very sterile and passionless.

It's an interesting idea, in a very Demolition Man sort of way. A century later, procreation and pleasure are very sterile and passionless.

Demolition man was my first thought, Equilibrium my second. You need some pretty hard core culture if you can suppress biology so sex isn't really known or experimented with. In Equilibrium the world has drugs that suppress the emotions. This world has a drug that suppresses the libido instead. There's many real world drugs that tamper with the libido. Weed and the pill for example.

The drug removes not only the desire, but the biological feedback loop. People can have physical orgasms, but it'll not give them pleasure. So if they are asked to get some seed into a petri dish they will do so, without understanding why or feeling good about it.

Like the protagonist in the movie some people start to skip the drug, and their sexual passions are unlocked. Could be a hospital visit where they cleanse him, and send home with the drug in hand. Or after a few days in the wild, where his stash of drugs was lost by an accident. The protagonist knows it is taboo, that the feelings he has now that the drug leaves his body makes the government uneasy. Out of curiosity he starts to explore, finding other afflicted now that he knows how to look for it. He slowly works up the courage to talk about it. Then do a few minor sexual things. Then full on sex. Then the sex parties.

With NSFW stuff getting pulled off itch and steam I’m coming at this from a similar angle:

Effectively in this society things gradually shifted. At first it was removing porn, then it was removing sex scenes from new work, then it was removing it from old work then nudity. It wasn’t just puritans but also the ruling class. Under the guise of protecting children, they slowly removed each of these and then eventually banned sex, citing how traumatic it was for children to have the potential to walk in on their parents.

Eventually they even started taking kids away from their parents so they could be raised in schools, indocrinated, and then put back out to be good little drones.

The ruling class of course still have sex and access to restricted media but at first they argued they were morally superior, then once the schools started indoctrinating, anyone who asked a question would get sent back for re-education.

Now of course the working class still needs to have babies but the ruling class thought of that too. Men contribute to a sperm bank and they get hooked up with a special device that gives them an intense jolt of pain when they orgasm, further destroying their willingness to experiment. Women are impregnated like cattle (sterile machines) and are forced to live away from everyone: their pregnancy viewed as effectively an act of contrition: they are sinful and their only hope of redemption is bringing the pure life of a child into the world.

Of course, things break down over time. Ruling class get bored and want to head down among the unwashed masses but don’t want to give up their perks, the machines meant to punish orgasms break down, banned material gets to the masses.

A revolution is brewing.

So our lead is using his free time to watch another approved sanitized film (like imagine an even more vanilla Hallmark film) when the power goes out. He decides to head out and sees people going to a club.

Now at this point clubs are effectively where you just go for approved drinks and films but he spots a female friend who grabs his hand and drags him down a secret entrance where the real club is going.

The first floor is still pretty tame by modern standards but for this setting blows MC’s mind. Women in lingerie, couples of all types kissing and making out.

MC gets an erection and at first he’s terrified but friend begs him to trust her and she pumps him till he comes all over her: no pain, just pleasure. She then pulls him down to the next floor where there are some private rooms and they have sex (again, vanilla by our standards but for them it’s scandalous)

Soon our MC is looking forward to each night and it reflects at work. People are coming up with ideas, expressing themselves and while the ruling class thinks they can stomp down on it, the Ai they made to try and serve as law enforcement is quickly given a shift in their bias and now they’ve lost control.

I would blame AI rather than a hypocritical ruling class.

AI decided on population control.

The draining machine that every man is encouraged to use daily feels kinda good (or else why would you use it) but the 'soap' it uses to clean the penis after contains libido killing chemicals.

Perhaps it's on a spaceship, so population control is vital. And the sex club happens in the engineering area of the ship, somewhere without the cameras that monitor the main area?

I'd go with both. The ruling class use AI to prevent regular people from having sex, while they themselves select the most desirable of the regular people for themselves to enjoy. Maybe the protagonist has been selected to be a toy... eventually leads a rebellion in which the masses start fucking each other in such a huge orgy that the servers running the AI melt down....
