Problems with creating a series on Literotica

I've read everything available on Literotica re: creating a series and still don't get certain aspects of it. I have two main questions that I cannot find answers for. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand how to set up the series. But when I try to publish the series with its first story, the story is published as an individual work before the series is approved. So...

1. Do I publish the series without an initial story and add the first and subsequent stories only after getting approval for the series?

2. Can I add a story already published as a work on Lit to the series after the series is approved?

I really hope someone can answer these questions because I cannot find this info anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

When possible, the easiest thing to do is let the automatic series tool function, which you do simply by putting 'Ch. 01' or 'Part 2' or something similar in the titles. Adding a synopsis or cover art to automatic series still takes a while, but you can add or reorder stories without that. And yes, you can add almost any story to a series, except that each story can only be in one series.

I have two series, one a transgender series of one-off stories about different transgenders. At some point, I'll be publishing a three-part set of stories that fall inside the story. The other series has recurring characters. But it's been so long since I created the two, I can't remember what I did or how long it took.

My first series created smoothly. The second one did not. I was on chapter 3 or 4 when the series got created. I think all the series got stuck for a while. An updated description of the first series got published at the same time as the second series was created despite being submitted a month apart.

The series management interface is totally non-intuitive, and the delays in confirmation of clicked actions is infuriating. However, I understand why it is this way, that series actions propagate multiple events on separate database servers. It's what we've got, so I've learned to live with it the way it is.

Answering the questions... 1)? I don't know. I had at least one story published when I went to create the series on completion of the following chapter.

And 2)? Yes. You can add any of your published stories to a series, but only one series (AFAIK). For instance, I just finished a crossover story that fits in the timelines of the two series that are crossed, so I have to decide which one gets it.

My wait seemed to be in moderation. I think the series get a similar or lower priority to edits. It may have simply been that Laurel got too busy and forgot about them altogether for a period of time. Or there was a technical glitch in the queue somewhere.

Thanks, Millie. If there's a saving grace, it's that the crossover takes place two years after the earlier series has finished, tho' not yet published. What's fun about it is it allows me to revisit the characters there, who I'm still sort of in love with. Since "the end" (HEA) is not published at this point, I can certainly add an epilogue linking to the crossover chapter in the other series. There are ways.

Where there's will, someone is getting the money. I mean, there's a way.

The Series function is in addition to the auto-sequencing mechanism. If you publish stories like this:

Story Title
Story Title Ch.02
Story Title Ch.03

the site will automatically join the chapters together. You don't need to number Ch.01, the system still works. You can number Ch.01 if you know for sure you'll have more chapters, but it's not essential.

Don't wait. Publish your first story first, then set up the Series is the easiest thing to do
2. Can I add a story already published as a work on Lit to the series after the series is approved?
Yes. Turn the Series to Manual and add the other story. You can change the sequence, too.
