Not quite, the Schwarzbrot is usually a bit more dense and heavy compared to the Danish rye bread.

But generally they are very much alike! Being made from sourdough, whole grains and lots of rye (some only from rye, others with oats and wheat as well)

The Danish rye bread often contain seeds like sunflower seeds as well.

But, it all depends on the variation of rye bread.

That must be the biggest difference: the Schwarzbrot is usually the same every where, whereas the Danish rye bread got a ton of variations.

And both are great!



Hahaha.. with a cured herring?

I just found myself contemplating popping over just to try the rye bread! That sounds so good!!

And …I actually had cured herring two weeks ago, even though I don’t normally eat fish or meat

Gardening.

My grandparents had a grape canopy along their house entrance, the twisty vines were just about the most magical place for my cousins and I to play.

They had plums and pears growing in the backyard, along with the normal vegetables like beans and lettuce and tomatoes. Chickens, rabbits, even a hound dog with a dog house.

I wish I was conscious enough to have appreciated the sprawling garden sitting flush against a growing Toronto skyline but really, I’m lucky the memories have remained magical instead of practical.

Just got back home from a walk that turned into a stroll into TJMaxx that lead to me buying a couple things and bag with cats in coffee cups which lead me to treat myself and get poke.
