In the news.

I don't mind saying: I think Coldplay gets a bad rap. They're not the greatest band of all time, but they're not stooges. They're an accomplished pop-rock band with a variety of smart, melodic songs that encompass a lot of different sounds. I saw them in concert once and they put on a decent show.
A band to launch divorces. Few bands can claim that distinction.

I taught a grad course in recommender systems maybe a decade ago. One student’s explicit goal for their project was to build a system that would shift another students taste until they liked Coldplay by gradually getting them to like things closer and closer to Coldplay

There's a recommendations website akin to that.

Not perfect but accurate enough I found quite a few groups that became new favorites off my core loves.

It's a place to start. Way more fruitful than anything Spotify did for me.

This reminds me of a story that was big locally here in RI.

We used to have a shock jock named Carolyn Fox in the mornings in the late eighties.

One morning, she takes a break and her co-host and the producer are talking and you can hear them because they forgot to shut the mic off. The co-host was talking about how she was going downstairs to leave something in the car of big boss there because she was messing with him and he was married. You then hear her come into the studio screaming and swearing because she found tickets to Miami in his glove compartment for the week he told her he was going with his wife to California, so....he had a side piece to the side piece and she's going ballistic which is pretty damn ballsy, in the middle of her raging you here the co-host go "Oh, fuck" and shuts the mic off.

She was suspended for a couple of weeks-would have been fired if her ratings weren't crazy high-and there was a follow up in a local paper that the boss's wife filed for divorce and the station put him on 'extended leave"

I have never understood cheating, not just from a moral standpoint, but how do they never think they'll get caught at some point?

What occurred to me while y'all were carrying on here ;) is that this brings larger attention to the invasiveness of the "fan cams" or "kiss cams" or whatever they call 'em. Event producers think they're cute, but the reality can be quite a bit more sinister, as is being discussed. That a popular band has done this and publicly commented on it with possible/probable negative impacts to the involved parties is fodder for a lawyer enjoining the band and the production team for damages in any "Smith v. Smith" legal action.

Message I get is, "If you attend our event, check your personal bubble at the gate. Expect your relative privacy to be compromised."

Allegedly the person at Astronomer who purchased the tickets for the CEO was fired immediately the next day.

As they should be if there was a disclaimer in the purchase agreement that attendance was subject to public humiliation (I jest... maybe). Seriously, if there was in fact a Ferengi-print disclaimer about attendance permitting all uses of attendees' personal image for promotional purposes and the legal notice was ignored and not passed along, yeah, that's a problem.

"They were just concert tickets!" Mmmm. Not so fast these days.

Is that part anything new? TV cameras have zoomed in on any celebs in sports and concert audiences as long as I can remember, and anyone else in the audience doing anything interesting. At least nowadays they're not encouraging teenage girls to take their tops off for it.

Every year there's a news story about someone pulling a sickie just before Glastonbury/Wimbledon/any other music festival or football match, being seen on TV in the audience, and getting fired. I think I read one this year about a company using AI to compare staff ID photos with Glastonbury TV coverage, but if you worked for a face recognition firm and skived off to a televised event, that's even more daft than putting your photos of it on Facebook...

Is that part anything new?

Not really. But the proliferation is. Across-the-stadium extreme zooms are no longer the sole domain of $250+K broadcast-grade video cameras. Major televised sports events are one thing, rock concerts or pretty much anything else with a social media feed are something entirely different, including less-than-professional assessment of appropriate uses.

I honestly thought this was about Steam bending the knee to anti-porn activists and removing several videogames from the platform because the finance industry got involved, and the precedents this may set up for erotica authors in the future. What the hell is all of this, who are these people, and on second thought, I don't care to know.

You'd think folks would be focused on more important stuff like this.

Okay, I have heard this once or twice, but I see why I don't know them, I'm into much heavier less mainstream material. This is way too whiny.

But good for them.
I never been much of a Coldplay fan. Their last album was rubbish. They did however made a few songs that just stick with you. Maybe it's just the melody. Songs you always have to sing or sum along to when it plays in the radio. I really like only 7 Coldplay songs. But I hope I will see them live one day. Even if they don't sing their own songs

Anyone else get inspired by the Astronomer CEO fiasco? I've been laughing myself silly over it and an infidelity story I was planning has taken a fun little turn.
My wife of nearly 55 years and I had more that a little chuckle at those two. I'm looking into my crystal ball, and think I see two divorces on the horizon.

VISA™, MasterCard™, and PayPal™ is what I saw coming to my radar on the news because anti-porn activists decided to use them to bully Steam into removing porn games that might well be stories in T/I and R/NC. I'd be concerned if these same activists start doing this to bully authors on Amazon or Amazon itself, and maybe even bullying individuals authors.

I thought this was about the possibility for us erotica authors and platforms like Literotica and others to be under a much bigger scrutiny rather than the dangerous identity policies that are being thrown around by the most conservative parts of society. And this is coming from the opposite side, proving it's not about politics, but censorship. Gossip, however? More important.

You should make a thread about it.
