Well got a quote for back deck.... sticker shockI

What questions should I ask him before I give him the go ahead?
So far I haveY

What material does quote include? Treated wood?.
Are supports cemented in?
Does the quote include unexpected findings like 10% or?
Itemized bill?
Time frame?
Depending on what part of the country you live in you may not want to cement the post in if the ground freezes. There are a ton of considerations and pressure treated is high maintenance. If you can get composit decking that will help. Depending on the sticker shock you may one to get more than one quote. If you can ask for references from the contractor and check out some decks he has built. If he is good there will be no problem in getting the references. You only pay in full when the job is done. You pay some up front to get things rolling, then some more when the job is started and then pay in full when the job is done. Hope you are sitting on the deck and relaxingn soon.

Great points! I would agree with composite decking. We did that on our back deck last year. No regrets!

It is barely a deck.... it is steps with a landing... that is what passes me off the most. He said he would concrete support posts in.

For some reason. I feel reluctant

Thanks for the 4WD tutorial! I do have Auto 4WD on my mid-sized SUV.

Sounds like a fun, productive day fishing! 🎣

You’re welcome dear!! Four wheel drive is one of those things you may never really need but when ya need it, ya need it, and glad ya have it. You can look in your owners manual and it will explain the in/outs but next time you’re on the U-Toob just put your vehicles name/date/4WD, and I bet some enterprising car dealership has made a vid of how to use it and when to use it. Little things like can you shift “on the fly” (not recommended by most but some you can) and other tidbits.

The fishing trip was fun…comical at times…but we caught keepers which made all the fuss worth it. We cleaned them that night but were too tired to cook so ended up taking the mess over to mama’s last night and we had a big fish fry and of course told tall tales about how big the fish were and how hard they fought! My mother is still recuperating so we didn’t make her coleslaw and hush puppies, we farmed that out from a local BBQ joint.

We made it through Monday and I didn’t’ see too many complaints! Except for that rain in Jersey?😲. Wonderer said he was OK…I’mBack made the post so she’s OK…we have anymore in the Garden State?

If you are pissed off beforhe starts, that is not good. Maybe look around for someone else? Are the steps you have now safe?
No.... I am reluctant because I want what I want and this isn't it.... but I am also thinking that I will put in paver patio and pergola.... at bottom of steps to the driveway.... that will be pretty too.... and more cost effective

He has great reviews and is highly rated on bbb and Angie's list... I have ptsd from other groups who show up fuck it up and then disappear

That sounds like a good project! I can’t recommend the paver patio/flagstone enough. We loved the one we put in last year to replace the deck. If your contractor has good reviews then that should help alleviate some concerns.

There was a bug in my powdered creamer crap.

It landed in cuppa #2.

It was dead.

I fished (bugged) it out and washed it down the drain and have noticed no discernible difference in flavor(u)r . . . .

I was a kid staying at my grandmothers once. I was having raisin bran for breakfast. You know how raisins sometimes have a little black end, that breaks off and lands in the box? Anyway, I was chowing down, and looking at all of the little ends floating in the bowl. As I was getting close to finishing up, I realized they were little bugs. Lots and Lots of little bugs...

I never trusted her cereal again! :ROFLMAO:
