I've often read negative things on here about how harsh LW readers can be, so I decided to run a little experiment based upon what I've read in the forums.

I knocked up a simple short story, I put very little effort into it, and most was written while a tad tipsy. It touched on stuff I know LW readers just love. The husband was loyal and hard working but unsuccessful in his career. While his wife dealt with his failure by paying homeless guys to have sex with her. I knew LW readers love a happy ending, so I had her discover STD clinics are a great place to pick up hot guys.

I expected it to bomb, but it actually did better than I thought.

in less than a week, it racked up 19.1k views, that's more than some of my good stories.

It had 565 votes, that's nearly 3% of readers, a lot higher than usual. The score of 2.8 is low, but I was honestly expecting 1%. I think this proves many LW readers fantasy about hobosexuality. It also suggests it's OK to cheat if they are lower than your husband.

There were 21 comments. Usually, I just get a few the first week. Surprisingly, a few were actually positive telling me they gave me 5 stars. Most weren't as nice, but at least they took the time, which means I must have touched them and improved their lives, and isn't that what it's all about?

I'll definitely be writing another LW story, this time sober and actually putting effort into it, perhaps a nice sharing one.

You created a story with a formula designed to piss off the trolls.

Now I have to go read this.

Good for you doing this for fun and giving zero shits about how it gets received.

I do appreciate the occasional positive comment among the spewing, its like finding a valuable antique for a buck at a yard sale.

As an experienced LW writer (most of my 73 stories are in LW), I caution you to be careful what you wish for.

The trolls may forgive and forget one back-slapping poke from an author. But here there be dragons, and you can pick up some very dedicated followers who will open and 1-bomb your other stories. (Well, I know there are those same 1-bombers here in the AH, too.)

I used to have four or five red-H stories ... years ago. But the haters have 1-bombed all of my older stories in other categories so often, there's no recovering that average. My stories get tens of thousands of views and hundreds of votes in LW. But the average ratings rarely approach a 4.0.

My latest story posted just hours ago, and after just three hours online for the public, it had well over 700 views and 12 votes ... for a rating of 1.32!!! It's 25K words long, so I wonder how many actually finished reading it.

"A Band of Sisters and Brothers"
"To we few, we happy few, we Band of Brothers!"

It now has (just over six hours old) over 1.9K views and 36 votes at 1.86! This is one I expect to eventually settle out at about a 3.0 rating once all of the haters have vented on it.

1.32...damn.

It's hard to get an H in LW unless you write a very specific type of story designed to not piss off any of the factions and there's a lot of those.

I have an H but its on a story posted back in 2012 that was originally around 4.10 or so and has somehow slowly climbed over the years. But if I released that same story today it would get annihilated. The crowd has gotten more toxic as time goes on.

My next one is about a guy who hires escorts and finds an ad from a woman claiming to be married and pushing the fetish of getting to screw another man's wife. Told from the guy's POV he spends the story wondering if she is married or its some kind of kinky role play and finds himself conflicted with not liking the idea of helping someone cheat but admittedly being turned on at the same time.

I'm sure it will do.... well.

The story has RISEN to 2.08 with 51 votes!

It's what I've come to expect in LW. The haters HATE any extra-marital sex, even when explained meticulously as to WHY they have good reason to do it.

This one is a long story which I had started before Memorial Day, initially intending it to be much shorter tribute to a friend. It grew. But be forewarned: The "Band" is VERY misogynistic! So, I'm sure it will piss YOU (LC68) off in particular. If you open it, you should read it to the very end to truly understand!

You make a point with the read until the end. I sense a lot of people-and not just in LW-seem to start a story, make an assumption and just drop to the comments and unload. I started a story off once with what you discover part way down the first page is the character reading a story so it wasn't what was really happening and people just started dinging it before they even got to the bottom of the first page.

As for misogyny, if there's characters in the story like that, its who they are and is what it is to make the story work, and it doesn't bother me. The misogyny in the readership is the eye roll for me. Its two different things.

I know you don't care about score, but it has to suck to some degree to write a long piece and put that work in just to get bombed by dumb asses.

Although my story is very misogynistic, I think you might like the main female character, Tina. She is unapologetically highly sexual and gets EVERYTHING her own way.

Is that a 'live long and prosper' you're flipping yourself, or are you just hiding your face from your victim? :p
I'm not sure how to answer this immediately. You've given me much to consider. Id love to say it's the former but is likely leaning toward the latter. 🤣

That's the one.

Wouldn't take much work to turn that into a I spit on your grave style revenge film.
I literally just watched the original and the remake and the sequel Friday. I must have been sheltered as a kid. I only discovered that story this week. It was awesome!!

If you ever write a woman-empowering story, don't be surprised if that toe is eaten away by the acid you're dipping into.
My current "Band" story is an empowered woman.

But I wrote "Cheated Wives' Club" "Cheating husbands might be surprised how we spend our time" in Loving Wives just four months ago. And after the usual 1-scraping it's currently at 4.0/104 with 9.1k views. It only received 5 comments, and none truly hateful.

In the "Band", Tina likes taking control:
MC: When I put my hand on the back of her head, I felt her teeth as she raked them up and off my cock!
Tina: "Don't touch my head!" she warned "This is my show, baby. We do it my way, or I bite!"

Later in the story, the MC realizes: During our time together over the last few months, I realized that Tina never says she's sorry for anything or ever admits to a mistake. .... Somehow, Tina always seems to get what she wants.

Its like anything else, none of the remakes capture the raw savagery of the original from 1980-aka day of the woman-I saw it on VCR at the age of 13. It really affected me I was already on my way to being a man hater.
The remakes-like the last House of the left remake-have gotten to where its more like they glorify the rape as much as the revenge.

I'm a horror hound, so I'll stop myself now

Empowered woman is a trigger expression for the people I call incels over there.

I had one on here a few years ago that I pulled so it could go into an anthology. It was a wild ride that got totally obliterated. I still think the tag line was one of my best
Gloryhole Houswives
Revenge never tasted so sweet!

I wonder if I could put it back up here, that anthology has been in the market for several years now.

I read that! That was a good one.

The only problem was I thought the husbands in it were rather one-dimensional props. I've found that I need to provide more motivation for even the secondary characters in stories. (I'm learning.)

Thanks.

Yeah, I agree, I could have fleshed out the husband's a bit more than just being convenient props for revenge. But you live you learn.
