Superman's Just Been Killed at the Box Office

I would kick...the book of this site's rules over to you and suggest you read the part about advocating violence.
I would slap myself upside the head with a dictionary for forgetting that you're too dumb to know what the word "advocating" means.

Superman has always been a Jewish immigrant story. If you thought otherwise you're a fake fan.
First time I've heard a line like this about Superman being Jewish. Sounds like a Republican twisted tale. Next you'll be telling me the felon is okay with having interdenominational marriages. ;)

superman as we know him was siegel and schusters third attempt to bring a superman to life in the pages of a comic book.

their first attempt was a character who bore more of a resemblance to pulp era heroes like doc Samson or Hugo Danner from the novel Gladiator. it was rejected. currently I think only an unpublished cover of this concept exists, maybe a few more pages.

their second attempt had their Superman (or Supermen) as evil aliens coming to earth to conquer us. I think this went as far as a few published pages, maybe not but from what I remember it had a strong "Mars Attacks" vibe.

superman really isn't an immigrant as much as he is a refugee, rocketed from his dying plant and all.

I appreciate that article reference. On a personal note, it doesn't matter to me that Jewish writers wrote the comics versus some other origins, be they religions, race, or gender.

I grew up reading other kids' comic books because I didn't have the money to buy my own. It was a fascinating world to find a stack of ten or twenty gifted my way. From a kid's perspective, I enjoyed the action and seeing villains getting punished by the Man of Steel over and over. No one ever sat beside me to give me all the 'interpretation' of his origin and tell me what I should have gotten out of reading the comics. I'm glad that didn't happen. It would have soured my enjoyment of those innocent days of youth.

That BSG feels prideful over this is fine. If you know your roots and those are under constant attack, it helps one's ego.

I didn’t grow up on comics other than some Archie and I don’t watch superhero movies. But as a Jew hearing what BSG said and then reading further, I think I may just go see it in the theatre!

I'll wait for the television version to appear. Getting out is reserved for short doctor visits fo rme. I think I might have gotten out to see a movie in the late '70s. I don't even remember what that show might have been.:nana:

Here’s an interesting summary of how the Right Wing Wacko-sphere took an innocent comment and twisted it:

They're Literally Angry at Superman for Being Nice

MAGA sheep so obsessed with “cancel culture”!

The manufactured outrage machine kicked into overdrive so fast, you'd think Gunn had suggested replacing the S on Superman's chest with a hammer and sickle. But this isn't really about Superman. It's about how conservative media takes the most innocuous statements and transforms them into culture war ammunition. It's about how the right-wing ecosystem has become so reflexively oppositional that even "basic human kindness" reads as a partisan attack.

What? "Your" people were lead out of Egyptian bondage by Moses with God's grace....... how did "your" people thank him? Your people constructed an idol of gold in the shape of a bull calf... then bent the knee to lump of gold.... false gods seem to be a constant recurring theme..... how'd that work out for'em.....

People think that only people they know watch movies. The audience for Superman is far beyond a few mouth-breathing white supremacists in the Southern States.

It's global. People around the world watch Hollywood movies and if they lose a few uneducated Trumptards they'll make it up easily elsewhere.
