Perfect Albums

I posted this on the daily song challenge thread this morning. Then over lunch thought about this song and this record.

Definitely a perfect record. My favorite stones record by far. Even more so than exile, beggars banquet, and sticky fingers…

It with their last album with Brian Jones.

Gimme shelter, midnight rambler, monkey man,and you cant always get what you want our mainstays on classic rock radio, and great songs. Live with me and let it bleed are also great, but probably not as popular as those listed above.

Love in vain, country honk (a country in western version of honky-tonk women), you got the silver are also great songs.

Not a bad song on this one…

Let It Bleed is a perfect album.

Rolling Stones - Live With Me

Bring It On by Gomez

See This Through And Leave by The Cooper Temple Clause

Sam's Town by The Killers

Scenes From The Second Storey by God Machine

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction

Our Love To Admire by Interpol

Cupid and Psyche by Scritti Politti

Expecting To Fly by The Bluetones

Shuttered Room by The Fixx

Seven And The Ragged Tiger by Duran Duran

Further by Geneva

Dog Man Star by Suede

Ok I'll stop. I could list albums all night...

I could have picked 2 or 3 other Teenage Fanclub records. Thirteen. Grand Prix. Shit, Bandwagonesque beat out Nirvana’s Nevermind for Spin’s album of year, but Songs From Northern Britain is the one I play the most often.. hard to pick a favorite song. Aint that Enough.

I really like Bandwagonesque

'Chasing Yesterday' Noel Gallagher
'NFR' Lana Delray, or anything by her, but that one especially.
'Achtung Baby' U2
'Jar of Flies' Alice in Chains
'Shear Heart Attack' Queen

Beach Boys, Pet Sounds. Yeah I know different era from what everyone else is listing, but you have to look at the place in history the album was created, especially with studio mixing. If Brian Wilson would have never stumbled upon Phil Spector's "wall of sound" in the Ronnettes "By my baby" none of it would have come to fruition.

I’m not going to repeat ones I love from above, but here are a few from me

Fresh - Sly & the Family Stone
There’s a Riot Going On - Sly & the Family Stone
Headhunters - Herbie Hancock
Abbey Road
Elis - Elis Regina
In a Silent Way - Miles Davis
❤️

The first five albums sitting in a record bin closest to me at the moment:
Butthole Surfers ‘Hairway to Steven’
Pixies ‘Surfer Rosa’
This Mortal Coil ‘Filigree and Shadow’
The The ‘Mind Bomb’
Nirvana ‘Incesticide’

Great thread and interesting reading.

I would 100% go with The Specials ❤️❤️❤️
Probably the better band, but that first English beat album… damn it’s good.

Plus there was an absolute riot last time I saw the eng beat. Jenkinsons pavilion in Point pleasant. The college moms were on the dance floor. So were the skins and punks. A housedad intervened. Then it was on!

Great night!

Space Ritual by Hawkwind is a perfect album.

I have to admit I had a lucky musical upbringing. My older sisters were into music and especially punk. My one sister dated a guy in the early/mid 80s who was into really obscure music. He turned me on to the stooges, MC5, Tygers of Pan Tang, a zillion others and especially Hawkwind: Space Ritual

I would listen to this album stoned. I was blown away by it!

In retrospect it’s maybe so bad it’s… great?!?! Heavy metal space rock. A bit corny. But it hold a special place in my heart and will always bring me back to being 16…17.

5/5 album!

Yes! Innuendo! Freddie's vocals, as amazing as they always were, were the ABSOLUTE BEST! On that album. Huge Queen fanatic my entire life
I feel like most people don’t know or appreciate that album. To me it seems like Freddie with the help of the rest of the band somehow put everything he had left into one last record and they made a beautiful masterpiece.

Top 5 of Queen albums. Maybe in my top 5 period. I agree with you. Funny though, A Night At the Opera doesn't make my top 5 Queen albums. It is a mater piece. The title track, Show Must Go On. Even Delila (sp?) Anyway his vocal stuns me on that album still and I had it the day it came out
