1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Hidden for Years Emerges As Stunning Time Capsule

When it comes to 1970 Chevrolet Chevelles, the SS 454 LS6 stands out as the holy grail. It packs the most potent engine of the golden muscle car era (the LS6 was rated at 450 horsepower) and is relatively rare. This red-on-red Chevelle is not an LS6, but it's a holy-grail rig when it comes to unrestored survivors.

One of 36 Known To Exist: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird Seeks New Owner

Unhappy with how the Charger R/T performed on NASCAR ovals, Dodge created the more aerodynamic Charger 500 in 1969. The latter also failed to challenge the Ford Torino Talladega, so Dodge came up with the more radical Daytona a few months later. In 1970, Plymouth introduced its own take on the "winged warrior," the Superbird.

Man Buys Holy-Grail 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS, It's a One-Owner Time Capsule

What's your holy-grail classic? Is it a rare and expensive Hemi-powered Mopar? Perhaps a second-gen Chevy Camaro? Or are you more of a Ford Mustang guy? I'd probably go with one of the orphan brands, but I'd have a hard time deciding between a Studebaker, a Nash, or a Hudson. Whatever rocks your boat, I hope you find it and buy it someday. Just like this guy did with his holy-grail Chevy Nova.

I've always said that not liking a Shelby is impossible, even if you're a Chevrolet guy. These cars had everything you could ever want, beginning with gorgeous styling and ending with the performance under the hood.
I’m a Ford guy and a huge Torino fan. I’ve owned two of them and still have our 1970 Torino wagon.

I’ve always wanted the Torino GT version. Bad ass muscle cars! Ugly and beautiful.

Quick catch up today, and I didn't get through everything. MIA on the 4th, so happy late 4th to all you spooners out there.

Spent the afternoon tearing into one of the daily drivers. Rust mites ate out the shock mount on the rear, so ordered a replacement panel, and some welding blankets to keep the rest of the interior from going up in flames when the sparky-arching starts. Tore half the interior out to get at the rusted panel, only to find the other side is close to going too. So need to find the opposite panel too. Just for the record, I really really extra fucking hate rust.

I really shouldn't be repairing this car, but someone is really in love with it and wants to keep driving it. A weekend or two of patching, and it'll be good for a couple more years. So fair trade, I guess.

Might head off to town to buy a few more odds and ends tools that will make this job easier... Like most problems, just throw money at it! :ROFLMAO:

Sounds familiar.

Saw a lotta lotta rust buckets on the way home.

The anvil I stopped to look at going in, I stopped again going out. No one was there and the car is unlocked, so I opened to door to look at the VIN plate.

I wanted a big '54. That one-year-only engine. It's a '53. I may call anyway to put my name in so the littler engine doesn't get scrapped.

They are in higher demand now and for the last few years.

Part of me sez I should sell it and let someone enjoy it more… but the other parta me sez, this will be a great winter or retirement project.
Keep it as a project..... make it what you want it to be.... and then sell if you decide to. To me 2/3rds of the fun is the restore/rebuild. Let someone who may not have the tools-skills etc enjoy down the road.

Quick update before I hit the road. Momma is home but in a lot of pain.

I would love to learn those. Teach me? 💃 🕺
Used to be you'd need to plonk a pile of money down and spend several weeks with the Fred Astaire Dance School... but nowadays? YouTube remains your friend... loads of lovely people willing to show you how it's done

My dad called and he wanted me to come over... so I went and we had hotdogs and Cole slaw.... my sister said she would go over Tuesday and Thursday to help and i would take the other 6 days... well she didnt do either...well she did show up last sunday at 5 in the evening and stayed for 2 hrs. she also did show up Wednesday at the restaurant for dinner after I and my friends helped my dad mow 2 acres and trim the evergreen tree (drag the leaving to the burn pile)....

So the convo where we talked and she promised to help me take care of mom and dad so I dont get overwhelmed didnt mean shit.... lesson learned

Edit: i am apparently pissed off but I will get over it
Awww, honey! I'm so sorry! That sucks! 🫂

My new jelly cabinet 40$. Not perfect but I love it... gonna be my pantry/ storage and old pantry is gonna be storage for broom mop vacuum and laundry stuff like the iron large bottles of laundry stuff....

My house is short on storage...

Then where vacuum is by front door will strictly be for coats and shoes so they are not piled by my front door ...

Haven't decided what will go on wall on top of cabinet... just leaned stuff to get a feel for it

It also needs a good cleaning and maybe a wipe down with wood restore
This is lovely! 😍😍

It’s a permanent PM. Had it installed and she sounded good yesterday but was in a lot of pain. They gave her meds and she slept Ok…released this morning and is back home but in lots of pain. They discharged her with only Tylenol…we’re calling to see if we can get something a little more…powerful. Long recovery for both of these procedures. It’s going to be a busy summer…and she’s still facing the hysterectomy come Aug.🥺

Thanks again for all the well wishes. This too will pass. Hopefully she’s on a path to a good recovery. Lazy River MZ.

Did you get something for pain? Can she take Aleve? The generic name is Naproxen. She can take one every 12 hours. Try for a schedule where the Aleve is given at its own time rather than with the Tylenol. You can do the same with ibuprofen but it can be taken more often.

Ablation typically doesn't cause pain. She may have some incisional pain from the pacer box implantation. Did she get a defibrillator too?

Well, the cabana boy has been busy today. I power washed all of our deck chairs, and also our outdoor teak table.

It all looks as nice as the day we bought them. Very satisfying.

We’re having another couple over tonight and then having a big cookout on Sunday afternoon

These look great! At least someone is getting the benefits of the cabana boy! 😄
