I am a new author and I submitted a new story on 6/22, another story on 6/23, and a third story on 6/27. None of them have been published. I read through the FAQ and I contacted support a few days ago and heard nothing back so FAQ suggested posting here to see what the wait time appears to be. Thank you for any help or in site anyone is able to give me.

Wait time is typically 3-5 days depending on what events might be going on that have the side admin's attention. For new authors, there's a bit of a closer inspection to make sure no rules are being broken, so it can take a week or two before your first story goes live. Also, make sure you aren't clicking on your stories in your control panel to open them up and do an edit. If you resubmit them after opening them, you'll wind up in the back of the queue and the wait begins all over again.

Once a story has been accepted for publication, you'll see its status change to 'Pending', and the date will change to show the date it goes live as opposed to the date you submitted.

If your story is rejected, it will show in the respective tab, with a short note explaining why it was rejected. Fixing the problem(s) will allow you to resubmit.

Welcome to the madhouse! :)

For a new author, 7 - 10 days can be typical these days, reducing to 2 - 4 days once you've got a few under your belt. On occasion a story can go up within 24 hours, especially if it's short.

The site has just done an overhaul of its front page - any site upgrade slows things down for a while, as do Contests when they're running.

New authors get scrutinized more closely for content compliance, and don't even think of using AI. That's been the biggest clamp down these last two years.

Welcome aboard, and be patient. Your story will get there eventually, or you'll get a rejection - if that happens, come here for guidance. Collectively, you'll get good advice (along with a whole bunch of not so good or helpful) :).

What are they looking for content compliance and what other items can get my stories rejected

I haven’t published much, but I’ve published. And I have had to wait for 3 weeks for my essays, sanding a week for my erotic stories. So it’s a waiting game unfortunately

The no sex under eighteen rule
No non-con without eventual satisfaction
No non-con with celebrities
No bestiality, vore, or snuff
No up-aging fan-fiction characters from their original ages in the canon
Poor dialogue punctuation and formatting
Blatantly poor grammar and spelling
No use of AI
No plagiarism

They're the main reasons for rejection.

There are a set of generic rejection notices, mostly couched as a set of questions. You have to figure it out in the context of your content, rarely is there anything specific to your story.

Go check out the FAQs, and if it's still unclear, post a thread here. Some folk get shitty seeing the same topics on regular repeat, but they forget that we were all new once, and any newbie has the same questions. You'll be fine, and will figure it out.

An absence of punctuation can get a story rejected.

However, what's happening isn't that you're being rejected. What's happening is that your turn for review just hasn't come up yet.

The queue is long and sometimes slow.

I have been having the same concern. I have 7 stories waiting, 4 of them for over 2 weeks. I too have contacted support and nothing. At this point I have come to terms that it’s just a waiting game.

New author too - here at least.

Contrary to received wisdom, all my stories have been published within two days. Some were approved in two hours. Maybe I just hit it right. Also - aside from a satire in NC/R (R/NC now), which was incidentally also published within two days - I’m writing in unproblematic categories, my sentence structure and vocab are both very non-AI, and my grammar, spelling, and punctuation at least mostly meet minimum standards.

I suppose it might also be relevant that I’ve only submitted short stories (less than 10,000 words) so far, so easier to check.

YMMV, but it’s not true that all new writers must sit in purgatory for many days.

I may, or may not, have a normal experience here. Two to three days is my average, with many going up at midnight the day after I posted them. However, I've had to wait up to three weeks. I have had two stories that were sent back, one for a transposition of 21 to 12, and another that I initially thought was for AI, but it wasn't; it was another transposition, with the same age changed as the first. I'm dyslexic, so it isn't my fault. My defective eyes are to blame.

Welcome to the Monkeyhouse.

Drop by for a coffee at the Hangout. We're mostly housebroken and the dragon keeps to himself.
But that growly old fart hiding under the coffee table might take a lick at your ankle. Don't be alarmed, just give me...er...HIM a good swift kick.

Comshaw
