I'm not religious at all, bordering on anti-religious, but I saw him 3 times as a kid and he had tremendous stage presence. Not just his music he was a powerful speaker. But it's crazy how he, Lewis, and Gilley all played the same music. Gospel, rock, and country but the same sound. And Alec Baldwin was great as Swaggart in that old JLL movie from the '80s I guess?

As teenagers Jerry Lee and Jimmy would sneak around and go to the black jukejoints out in the country to hear the old school blues and r&b. I'm thinking Gilley was considerably younger and didn't make it on those adventures. He just grew up listening to his famous cousins.

Great Balls of Fire is a very good movie with Dennis Quaid as Jerry Lee, Alec Baldwin as Jimmy, and Winona Ryder as their cousin who JL married when she was 13. With her father, (JLL's bass player)'s permission.
