Paramount Global and CBS have agreed to settle a high-profile lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump over alleged election interference by paying a sum that could exceed $30 million.

The agreement follows months of legal wrangling related to CBS News’ handling of a 2024 interview involving then-Vice President Kamala Harris on the program “60 Minutes.”

Perhaps Trump can use it to repay some of his defrauded business partners?

This happened because 60 minutes refused to release an unedited transcript. Now ask why. $16m is the initial payment for legal fees, etc., adding another $16m for PSAs, advertising, and promotion of conservative causes. Total of just over $32m.
 
"They didn't say sorry" is a great defense of a corporate payout. That is like saying, "Seven million people watched an episode of CSI, but only some of them thought it was good."
 
Paramount/CBS paid a $16 million bribe to Trump to make sure their merger with Skydance Media is approved.

According to both the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, the settlement was agreed - with the help of mediator - so as to not affect Paramount's planned merger with Skydance Media, which the Federal Communications Commission has been reviewing and therefore Trump technically has the power to halt.

During the month-long settlement talks, some CBS News executives including chief executive Wendy McMahon have left their roles, due to their unwillingness to issue an apology to Trump.

There were also reportedly concerns over whether paying to settle the lawsuit could be viewed as bribing a public official.

Election tampering is unacceptable, regardless of one's political affiliation.

Did you already forget the felon was up to his double chins in such tampering activities?

That it isn't okay should be easily understood by assessing Trump's attempt to shake down Georgia for 11,780 votes.

Just as it wasn't okay to create slates of fake electors in an attempt to replace state-certified electoral ballots.

Nor was it acceptable to invite militant activists to the Capitol on January 6th. It will be wild, he said. Well, that was an accurate statement as it turned into an attempt to halt the counting of ballots and chants of hanging Mike Pence because he refused to use the fake electoral certificates.

After all is said and done, neither party produced evidence of widespread tampering or rigged votes, despite minions like Rudy and the My Pillow guy, kicking and screaming through courts over the matter. Trump got off while they lost everything. He isn't called Teflon Don for nothing, is he?

You know what's funny about this? If corporate media hadn't edited the interview Trump wouldn't have had any ability to "shake them down" over it.
