I know what is today and you missed my point. They have no physical plant that needs to be moved and relocating their headquarters is just a matter of filing the proper paperwork.Wall Street is obviously a big part of it but it’s also tech companies. The most profitable publicly traded company headquartered in Manhattan is a telecom company. Much like everyone else who posts in this thread who only read a wiki blurb knows little of all the major manufacturers in the outer boroughs that employ the majority of folks living here. I’m sorry you can’t get this info from a wiki page but there is more to NYC than just Manhattan and Wall Street.

I've heard people say you're a New Yorker when you've lived here for 10 years. I think you're a New Yorker when you stop caring about the misconceptions people have about the city. You assume the people that comprise the staff that work at the NYSE daily can just be replaced with some random Joes from Oklahoma?
I mean.. really?

"If you know, you know" would be our city motto if it weren't already "Baconeggandcheese, saltpepperketchup."
You are quoting the racist poster formerly known as Ishmael before he got banhammered. So you’re suggesting that the NYSE, an institution that has existed in its present location since 1903, can just up and leave to anywhere else by just filing some paperwork?
Money is fungible, yes. You assume the people that comprise the staff that work at the NYSE daily can just be replaced with some random Joes from Oklahoma?

Yes, I mean really. When the costs exceed the benefits then location is disposable. So you’re suggesting that the NYSE, an institution that has existed in its present location since 1903, can just up and leave to anywhere else by just filing some paperwork?

I will further point out that it is not the NYSE as an entity that is paying all those taxes, it is the various investment houses located in NYC that are footing the bill.
Want to see what I think of authoritarianism? Here ya go:

They can't argue against his politics, which are popular with most people, so they go for the low-hanging fruit, something he can't help. Typical of MAGAt turds. That's all they've got. Meanwhile, they're being played like fools by billionaires. They're so stupid, then wonder why society treats them like lepers.
I’m rooting for Mamdani. I want to see how this all plays out over the next few years. Municipal grocery stores, exit taxes, rent caps, and tax the rich. What could go wrong? It’s going to be exciting!! Go Mamdani!!!!
I think that's probably it. After all, Vermont used to be just as red as those states are. What is the fear? Could it be that the ideas of Bernie/AOC may, god forbid, spread to their neck of the woods?
“Who did you vote for?”…”what state do you live in?”And you wonder why folks like me have the smell of shit in our noses every time you post.
What state do you live in?

Are you part of the German SS? Are you going to track down all non believers?
You sound creepy
I love that…”privilege”. That always sounds funny to me when I hear that.
What I’m really looking forward to is the future video footage of these municipal grocery stores. I’m picturing a DMV type scenario. A banana costs $0.25 less but you have to wait two hours to check out. I think it’s going to work![]()
If you’re depending on a municipal grocery store run by the government for food….yes, you’re definitely going to struggle to eat. It’s a great weight loss plan thoughTry and keep up. We’ve already been over how New Yorkers are going to struggle securing food. I think we all concluded it will be either like Mad Max or the Hunger Games.![]()

Everything is free…vote for me!! He’s going to win in a land slide!! I’m dead serious!! There’s not a chance in hell he loses this.Your concerns are noted. New Yorkers thank you for your attention to this matter.![]()
Careful what you wish for.I honest to God would vote for this guy if I could, because I’m dying to see how this turns out. It’s going to be epic
I’m a free market person. I think actual free markets would help in this situation.Careful what you wish for.
I'm reminded of health care reform, where the crux of the dispute isn't that right-wingers are afraid it won't work, it's that they're afraid it will work.
For better or worse, we do have a real problem with far too many Americans being unable to afford nutritious food while there is plenty of it out there and no real reason why it has to be priced out of their reach. That's what he's trying to address here. If you don't think it'll work, what do you think should be done?
I’m a free market person. I think actual free markets would help in this situation.
I’ll give you an example. Where I live there is a very expensive grocery chain. I went there for years and years and it just kept getting more and more expensive. It was infuriating how much groceries were. Everyone I know was soooo pissed about it. We were all fed up.
Then enters capitalism and the free market….another grocery chain opened up. They saw an opportunity. They figured out how to “self distribute” groceries and take out the middle man which drove prices way down. Now I go there. My grocery bill is at least 40% less. I only go to the expensive place for small things or out of convenience because it’s closer.
No one told the expensive place they couldn’t charge expensive prices. No one put price caps on them. They just let them do their thing. They’re losing customers and a ton of business now but that’s up to them to figure out. Let the free market work
In this example, Capitalism drove prices down, not up. This could easily happen in New York. I’m sure there’s a bunch of regulations and red tape preventing it from happening but you have to vote to deregulate and invite new businesses in to compete. Competition is what New York needs.
