"My social media posts have not been nice to the director of the VA and have not been nice to Trump. And I voted for the guy!" said Jon Henry, who served in Iraq during the first Gulf War.

Last month, the Veterans Administration abruptly killed its VA Servicing Purchase (VASP) safety net program, which has helped more than 33,000 veterans and service members, according to the VA. But this most recent service cancellation is only the latest in a VA mortgage roller-coaster leaving service members confused about what help the federal government actually provides, if any.
veterans in debt are suffering whiplash from trump admin's decision-making fuckups.
“The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) dramatically increased the risk of foreclosure for tens of thousands of Veterans and their families,” reported the Center for Responsible Lending in May. However, it was only April 10 when the Trump administration announced the birth of the VASP program as “a new, last-resort tool in VA’s comprehensive suite of home retention options for eligible Veterans, active-duty Service members, and surviving spouses …”

no way to treat people who have served this country

1. The VA Servicing Program was not created this year by President Trump. It was created last year by President Biden's autopen.

2. The program was never intended to be a permanent government program and instead was aimed at the approximately 40,000 veterans who encountered financial problems due to the COVID shutdowns of their businesses and their jobs. Not every veteran qualified for the program.

3. Those who were aided by the program have been aided and will be unaffected by the end of the program.

4. The VA temporarily assigned staff to dealing with the program and now those staff are being sent back to their original jobs where they are needed.

In other news, a few years ago the special tax on telephone service to help pay for the Spanish American War was finally ended.

If Trump cured Cancer, butterfatz would complain that he wasn't being equally accommodating to curing people who don't have cancer of cancer.

Yes! We can read and understand english. If you wish to be condescending, you'll need a far bigger box to stand on.
p.s NOT "created" by an autopen, you pillock.

Indeed. Again, reading comprehension doesn't fail many of us here. It was intended to serve approx. 40,000 "for the remainder of their loan." Which would be many years for most.
VASP is a new, last-resort tool in VA’s comprehensive suite of home retention options for eligible Veterans, active-duty Service members, and surviving spouses with VA-guaranteed home loans who are experiencing severe financial hardship. Through VASP, VA will purchase defaulted VA loans from mortgage servicers, modify the loans, and then place them in the VA-owned portfolio as direct loans. This will empower VA to work directly with eligible Veterans to adjust their loans — and their monthly payments — so they can keep their homes. With VASP, these borrowers will have a fixed 2.5% interest rate, which will provide a consistent, affordable payment for the remainder of their loan.
3. Those who were aided by the program have been aided and will be unaffected by the end of the program.
Not according to the worried veterans who now face foreclosure and losing their homes. DO I imagine they understand their financial situation better than you? Why, yes, yes I do.
4. The VA temporarily assigned staff to dealing with the program and now those staff are being sent back to their original jobs where they are needed.
This program was intended to run through till at least 2033, so to say the staff were no longer needed is total bullshit.
VA anticipates that VASP will result in a government subsidy spending reduction of approximately $1.5 billion from 2024 to 2033, making it beneficial for Veterans, taxpayers, servicers, and loan holders alike. This is because the savings associated with avoiding foreclosures outweighs the cost of purchasing these homes. VA has existing authority to establish and implement VASP under 38 U.S.C. § 3732 and § 3720.

the point is that this vital service helping veterans was put in place (thankyou President Biden) just a year ago, and now it's been scrapped instead of fulfilling its promise. Veterans are furious. Why aren't you?

And it is doing exactly that. The only thing ending are any new applications.

Everything else you whined about is a product of your fevered imagination as fed by the narrative of some reporter who can't be bothered with the facts.

Like I said,
my bad... I already knew it was the Biden administration because, let's face it, there's no way the trump admin would have birthed it so, ergo, my brain filled in the correct administration automatically. I will make sure to proof-read more clearly next time. Thankyou for bringing that to my attention.
