The US Army planned this for a couple of years to be held at the National Mall. It was more of an open fair-style event with meet-and-greet soldiers, physical events, cooking shows, and award ceremonies.

That is, until the felon usurped the plans, staged a coup, and declared it was to celebrate his birthday. [Well, not that, he demurred with a wink and a nod.]

The celebration of the Army's history was the focus. Now it's a political stage event for the felon to show off and upstage the men and women in uniform. Like the Ft. Bragg staged event to dress down California. I'm pretty sure he will use the time to rant about some political opponents or migrant threats to America again.

Trump's parade ordered up over 6,000 troops who now have to show up in uniform on what should have been a weekend off, so that he can be entertained. Image having to be in full dress uniform, in the heat, and knowing the bastard on the podium you pass by and salute was a fucking draft dodger who called John McCain a sucker and loser along with hundreds of thousands who died for this country.

The above and the costs are just two of the reasons the parade added by Trump is objectionable, even by the military that planned it.

So, there is that.:(

Why is DOGE cutting Medicaid? The vanity parade will cost much more than the Medicaid budget.
 
Question - how many happy birthday banners will there be in the parade?

Did the French have tanks in the Bastille Day(?) parade that lodged this idea up someone’s ass??

I envision one of the tanks losing a track and a Bradley dropping oil all over the parade route. These parade vehicles have probably been sitting in a motor pool yard for years.

Someone mentioned yesterday that the birthday parade was intended to show American military prowess, with Trump demonstrating to the world how lethal he has made our military.

.....every single wheeled and/or tracked vehicle lumbering through Washington DC was put into production last century.

There has been no significant addition to American Army warfighting capability since 2000.

Oh, they did revamp the Army Physical Fitness test, but that hard to demonstrate on parade (pushup competition maybe?)

Sadly, if we were away from this board, I would have the conversation with you that I believe trump and the majority of his supporters have never been truly loved. His mother was ill and was unable to console him in his youthful times of need and the seed of selfishness was planted. It’s in his supporters as well. How many times have we read maga proclaim: I don’t need to be vaccinated cos I’ve never been sick. MY 401k is just fine. Well, ME and MY guns ARE responsible, etc.

But you and I aren’t away from the PB and I have no need to be a nursemaid to fucking pieces of privileged, selfish and entitled fuckwits! You keep hitting them hard. Hand down punishment on these unruly brats. I love it!
