My father served as well.
I use his service only as a reference to my experiences as a civilian living within the military. I don’t take credit for his time sleeping in a wet tent or manning an outpost. I don’t take credit for his service - that’s his, his own as it is only that of your father. You taking credit for your dad’s service?
