I'm starting doubt if I chose the right approach for this event.. I was going to write two IT stories that join in the end l, but reading all these posts about historical ideas I'm begging to think I chose the wrong path. Damn.

Don't be distracted by the talk of historical pieces, I can't remember the name of the story but there was a superb piece under the gay genre that was included in last year's entry. If you have a hero or two, for whatever reason, crack on!

No, I just submitted it. Need to wait at least till tomorrow to see if gets approved and the publication date. I will update on the thread once it's set to be published.

Somehow, the guy saves the girl or vice-versa and they have sex theme just doesn't feel right for the event.

I tried lesbian romance with a polar opposite leads with both saving each other in different ways. It had a theme of heroism but honestly it would be more suitable for summer love than this event.

Eventually I ended up writing a life of tragedy for MC in shadows. The FMC has her own set of demons along with unrequited love. Hero, hardships, and heartbreak are so intertwined together in our head that happy hero simply doesn't fit.

I wonder if something on the theme of "The Boys" would work here. It needs more skills to pull of Antihero, though.

I'm sure it could work, yeah. That does sound pretty intense. But honestly there's probably more opportunity for sexual tension and general depravity in that frame than the other way around.

I've got one idea that might work. It's basically an Expanse fanfiction, but I don't really need to reference anything from the narrative. I just want to use some of the worldbuilding. I guess I should re-read the rules carefully and make sure that would fit.

I have almost finished my story and I think I managed to connect heroism and sex .

I wrote two stories that both explore the act of heroism, its possible consequences and relationships that evolve because of those incidents. These, seemingly two separate stories become one in the end.

I loved writing basic thriller, action prologue describing the acts what start the main stories.

I'm getting there, probably the most researched piece I've pulled together to-date! It's centred around cold war era Berlin, not sure if it'll sit better in LW or Romance. May have to throw it out in advance to see where some trusted souls think it should sit. There are things keep stacking up against me, but I'm determined to see this through, and on time. I can already see my number one European editor cursing me And I've yet to grovel to see if they can create complete German version for release if they think the target audience won't rip a Brit to bits!

@GoldenMaia, depend how fast you write. The go live date is 14 July. The intent is to have all stories ready for publication then, but I'm sure a couple of days late will be ok.

I made sure to mark it as an entry to this event, including in the story introduction comments I usually make.

Was today the publish day? For some reason I thought the date was July 14.

Author must copy and paste the phrase "OGGBASHAN MEMORIAL EVENT 2025" in the "Notes" field of the submission. We recommend that you COPY & PASTE it into the NOTES field to avoid typos.

Did you do that?

Mine is in published state with 14 July date.
