Ford thought running an oil-lubricated timing belt inside the engine was a brilliant ideauntil they all started shredding themselves and clogging oil pickups
even more annoyingly so, America superseded them back in I want to say 2020 and swapped the wet belt for a timing chainā¦most Ford 1.0 engines here in the uk have got the belt instead of the chain which makes everything a lil more complicated.

fair point, VW actually got the design and materials right. Fordās 1.0 EcoBoost wet belt just wasnāt built to last. I think they may have done that purposefully. If you donāt use the exact right oil, which. Adam, letās say whoās driving his first ever car, doesnāt realise this, and it starts breaking down from the inside, sending bits of rubber into the oil pickup and starving the engine, his dad is the one that has to bring it in and have a whole job done on it. Itās very, very spenny. And usually by the time itās brought in itās just over their warranty. Every time.! Itās a ticking time bomb if people donāt stay on top of it.
