Weekend Watchlist + A Little Tease for Youā¦
Letās start with the disappointing part of my weekend before I inevitably turn this whole thing hornyā¦. Last night I went to see Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman and set within the John Wick universe. It had every opportunity to shine.
Ana de Armas takes the lead as Eve, a trained ballerina-turned-assassin seeking revenge for her fatherās murder. But, despite her range and on-screen magnetism (Blonde, Knives Out, No Time to Die, sheās brilliant in all of them), is given next to no lines. Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Wick, was the reason I wanted to see it, but it seemed he only had a little 30 min feature. It really does deserve the 77% rotten tomatoes reviews. ( Iām such a movie āratingā whore that I review EVERY new movie. ) so to cleanse our palettes we decided to stay late at the cinema and watch Dangerous Animals (new shark horror), that honestly had no business being as good as it was. (The Shallows, disappointed me, also better then 47 meters down). What starts off as a sun-drenched boat trip ( yes, typical) quickly spirals into claustrophobic, nerve-wracking terror.
. More than once. Youāre welcome for that mental image.)

I did also go to Silverstone to watch the F1 Grand Prix with a friend who works for McLaren (she gets cheaper tickets to all sorts of car events, Iāve also been to Goodwood festival of speed a few times now) and we sat in the Becketts stand. It was okayā¦ I just donāt get the hype

Itās not often you hear non sexual stories on the threads ( especially over here on my oneWell, I'd like to explain why I'm a bit fascinated. I relative of mine raced i rally when I grew up. My father helped him and I was always fascinated about how all the stuff worked to get the car running. The race had some thrills but the really fun part was the cars.
In the 90's I tried myself to do some racing but found out quite quickly how expensive it is if you don't have enough sponsors, so my career was short but fun.
In 1995 I was at Imola and watched F1. To me it was the whole experience that was the thing. But most of all to see and hear the cars for real was to me almost a sexual thrill. The sound, the smell, the speed all was just WOW!
I've also been a mechanic in a Dragracing team in the late 90's. It's the same. The interest in how to get the car to go faster that fascinates.
I hope I didn't bore you with this post.
