The most important political divide is generational

Bro it's crazy how some people lose their morals as they age.

More like some people think they can make better decisions on how to manage their money than the government can.

No kidding, most of the guys I know who moved into the conservative column did so over financial concerns.

A majority of voters under 30 align with the Democrats; Republicans have the edge among those over 60.

This is not a stage-of-life thing -- people do not grow more conservative as they age. It is a generational-culture thing.
Does anyone consider the fact that the age groups with the lowest voter turnouts are 18-25 group and the 26-30 group? Ever consider these age groups just can't be bothered to vote? Until this chages, the party in power will stay there. IMHO.

My dude becoming a party member of the party who needs to be saved from recessions doesn't make sense if that's their reasoning.

That attributes it to a decline in intellectual curiosity with age. Very disturbing.

It's a consequence of getting older. Your priorities also shift as you get older.

People who have earned and saved money will vote according to their interests.

People who did not earn and save money will also vote according to their interests.

Both are functionally conservative even if they end up having opposing political views.

Some day you'll be 65 and looking at retirement.

Maybe that year you'll need to choose between two candidates.

One supports policies that will cost you $1,000 per month in additional taxes which will go to support other people.

The other will support policies that will save you $1,000 per month by reducing your current taxes, allowing you to save even more money for retirement.

That's a $2,000 per month difference.

Are you altruistic enough to vote for more taxes to support other people at your expense or, facing imminent retirement, will you vote the way that makes your retirement more comfortable?

Bro not sure what your fantasy scenario is about but I'm sticking with the party that won't threaten to cut my Medicare when I'm 65.

The GOP does not even approve of Social Security and has seriously floated proposals to privatize the system. It is not a party to vote for if you're making retirement plans.
