I'm a bit more cynical than most (Trump does that to a person), but I'm seeing strange activities at the highest levels of government, and I'm getting more alarmed by the day.

First, Musk publicly derps on Trump. Not entirely unexpected, but it raised eyebrows that it was so....public.

Many people were baffled by Trump's lack of response. Musk doubled down on his rhetoric yesterday, someone close to Trump said that the President just considered it Musk criticizing the continuing resolution, not him (Trump) personally.

So Musk escalated again this afternoon, implying that Trump's policies were going to cause a YUUUGE recession (Trump has NEVER failed to make a kneejerk response to the "r-word" as President) and then Musk went nuclear, implying not-so-subtlety that Trump needed to be removed from office, via impeachment or the 25th Amendment.

Annnnnnnnnnnd.....JD Vance had "no comment" on that.

Hear that alarm bell yet? The Paypal Mafia (billionaires like Musk and Vance's political patron Peter Thiel) seem to have begun their endgame to replace Trump AND democracy in America with some form of "Technocracy" and rule by the noveau riche.

I was looking at the timelines of the spat between the egotists, and it does seem fairly a he said then he said thing, at least after the first couple of sallies by musk.

They don't care if he was friends with Epstein. I know....
I just find the American folkloric measurements funny. Especially because they are defined in the metrical system.

I had included the preparation. The pure flight time is shorter, ashes on my head (I've just had a shower, damn it).
A Russian Soyuz capsule typically takes around 3 to 3.5 hours for the return journey from the ISS to landing in the Kazakh steppe.
A Dragon capsule usually takes around 6 to 7 hours to return to Earth before splashing down off the coast of Florida.

I would say the hard data collected on the effects of space on the human body, etc, has great value.

Some day technology (likely advanced exponentially by AI) will allow for humans to truly become a space-faring species, and every bit of data collected now will contribute to that happening.

I do believe “Starship to Mars” is a fools (narcissists) errand, but it does serve to inspire; so not a total waste. The Earth’s moon seems far more practical for learning the ropes and serving as a gateway to space travel (IF we’re determined to pursue the grail of colonizing other moons & planets and mining asteroids, etc.)
