Up at 3 for old dog. It’s raining pretty hard. I have an MRI of my hip at 830 and can’t eat or drink 4 hours prior to the scan. I don’t understand that. But I will dutifully comply. The nurses here will explain the 4 hour fasting.

I think I am going to use the recliner again for a snooze before the scan.

I have always found that sharing a bath or shower with a partner about a minute and a half before bedtime helps me fall asleep almost instantly!

Absolutely! I have always regarded gym work as very much a spectator sport. And now I know the permitted dress code at your gym...I'm bringing popcorn!

This was the smoke from the fires in 2023. I never experienced smoke like this. It was a perfectly cloudless day, it was just orange and eerie.

There was a fire very near us; the evacuation zone was less than a quarter mile from our house. I had go bags packed for us and the dog's crate, food, and water packed in the truck. Here's a picture of fire INSIDE a tree!

I was monitoring local web cams, and some of the views were completely blocked out! It was like a thick morning fog all day long. I've seen some smoke here before, but nothing like yesterday. Much better today, although the AQI number is still around 170.

Waiting patiently on SWhoMBO…to get her mess ready so we can go eat. Now in all fairness she called around looking for reservations for a place that has soft shell crabs…well…this ain’t Maryland, so no dice. So now, she’s posting pics from the wedding, time is ticking away…everything closes at 9pm…EDT…

Now I’m watching as Ms OCD is running around the back yard putting away things that couldn’t wait till tomorrow

I was curious as I have had them fall where I was living a couple of times, very scary, eucalyptus fires here travel fast, the fires we have these days are so much worse, the heat they are burning at is making their own weather system…firestorms

The scariest are firenados. San Diego has had problems with eucalyptus fires. The trees have so much oil in them and their resin makes them highly flammable.

Funny confession story...
While partying with friends, I popped off a 1,500 foot "emergency at sea" parachute flare in the Ozark Mountains.... it lit the woods on fire, unbeknownst to everyone else....

I came back, after putting the fire out and said
"It's OOOOKAY, we're OOOOKAY!"...

That has become a figure of speech within my circle of friends.... they never knew, until my return and announcement, that anything had taken place...

There's even something funnier, but I ain't gonna post that here!

You may receive contrast and/or sedation for your study. Some people find the scanner to be claustrophobic or nausea-inducing. The reason for NPO (nothing by mouth) for a period of time is to make sure your stomach doesn't have any food or liquid you may vomit up. You do not want to aspirate (breathe in) stomach contents.

I hope your test is as benign as possible.

no - the fire was nowhere near us. It was like 500 miles away in Canada. It just blew the smoke towards us. No embers or ash. Everything smelled like a nasty campfire tho.
