I've used that too, but with dementia.
Reminds me of when I last ran into a colleague's wife. She is ADHD with maybe a touch of ASD, and they have one kid ASD, another ADHD, and we are not sure about the third - she's a Gemini so probably one "twin" is ASD and the other ADHD. Anyway, I was sort of complaining about the wife making go and get tested for ASD, and they - mother and both sons - just chorused back "You are peer reviewed - and yes, you are." After that, all I could say is, "Fair enough!"
More reliable than some doctors, I'd say...
The doc's comment was "from what you have told me, there is a high probability that you are. We need to test you to confirm it, but the test is not infallible." This was back in January! It snowed the day I was supposed to be tested, so that appointment was put off until April (from February,) and the review is not until July! The moral of this story is that snow really messes things up in Virginia.
It's been a month and a half; 30% of the time allotted. They must be getting close because it'll take at least a month to write it up. And publish it........where? It seem reputable medical journals are off the table.
Is the assume that the cause will provide the cure?

It's more a question of how many of them *know* they are autistic.The irony of the search for a cause for Autism is that I wonder how many of those who are doing the research are ASD. Actually, I sometimes wonder how academia would function without ASD people. There's a remarkable number of us hiding in plain sight. Academics are meant to be awkward and a bit bonkers, so it makes a good hide out.
True that - it took me about 50 years and having a close friend who is ASD to work it out.

But they seem to make them. Assuming that they'll at least find a way to prevent new cases at the very least. They seem to even assume that they actually know the cause and just need to prove it.
And we will watch them flounder.....
Most of our Nobel laureates, much of the Silicon Valley are/were on the spectrum, and same with the silicon Glen, I think preventing autism is very short sighted.
Assumptions and presumptions... since the Reps thrive on contradiction, I assume they think they can identify an autistic fetus and demand to abort it at specially designated purity control centres. They're not exactly going to fix it by... oh, I don't know, like providing drinking water without mercury or clean air or food not laced with hormones. But then since everyone's a bit on the spectrum, they'll just have to abort babies from mothers with dark hair and brown eyes.
Much of the scientists in general. Also many associations wouldn't run without neurodivergent people.
I like your post, but I don't think JFK can think about anything since he has been dead for over 60 years. Maybe RFK can or will try.

I hear ya... it was 4 in the morning when I finally got to sleep after my last one.
...or longer, if it is a bad one. It trips my anxiety off, which I suspect is a common ASD response.
