🏡PLP's Bazaar of the Bizarre: A Study Hall for the Deviant and Delightful

Ok Study Hall I have a history question!

Do you have a favorite historical era?
Is there a period of time you feel like you'd enjoy living in more?
Is there a historical aesthetic that you'd like to inhabit just a little or that suits you more?
I enjoy learning about history in general, especially social history, but I've never been inspired to take a deep dive into one era. Taking into account modern medicine and the rights of women, I wouldn't enjoy living in any past era. Conditions being perfect, I would love to spend a few days in Renaissance Florence and in fin de siècle Paris, Vienna, and Glasgow. As for a historical design aesthetic, the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau have the strongest draw for me.

I really like women wearing a corset, because in my view it shows class. Definitely in combination with those wide dresses, and a nice hat. But I can imagine it isn't very female-friendly to wear such a tight piece of clothing like a corset.

And for men I'm fond of the three-piece tweed suits, during the post First World War period. Inspiration for that is the Peaky Blinders series. I enjoyed watching that a lot.

I think I only began to really grasp and enjoy history as an adult. My brain was always in the fiction, fantasy and whimsy of other subjects. But I've been lucky enough to be exposed to some smart people who have taught me a lot and unlucky enough to live through enough modern history to really learn to appreciate it more now.

I think if you could pick and choose things from different eras (the least crimes on humanity parts) there are lots of times I'd like to peek in on but the 60s? Yes please. I'd be such a good flower child. 🌼 ✌️

Favorite historical era - toss-up between Tudor England and the Roman Republic.
Time period I'd have enjoyed living in... I don't know about "more" but I think I'd have done well in the Northern Renaissance.
Historical aesthetic - 1920's, pleaseandthankyou.
