Everyone knows exactly who reported what (except maybe the senile).
This is an example of some of the back and forth about "reporting" over in another thread.

How does one make a report? DM the moderator or the admins? If so, how do other people know that a report has been made? And how do they know that a report has resulted in some action, like a "temporary time out?"

I may be wrong, but the cited words are an empty brag "We all know who grassed Slasher Stig to the cops..." There is a report "bell icon" Report bottom left of every post in a thread. Clicking the report link brings up a panel that is seen by the Mod who may then take action if they feel it's warranted. Sometimes the Mod will PM you let you what is happening. If it's deemed frivolous they won't bother.

If you click on the username, a new page opens. On the right-hand side, opposite the account details and above the Reaction Score, you'll see a button saying "Report".

I used it just the other day to report someone who was flooding the forums with spam offering drugs in various parts of the world.

Odd. I hadn't seen that before and most of the time clicking the username I just get a kinda miniscreen. Now you've mentioned this route I finally managed to replicate what you report.
