From my days in college, we had a roommate who liked to help himself to some of our things. One such thing was in a clear vodka bottle. The contents did not contain Vodka. The vodka bottle was used by my other roommate to make solution of concentrated caffeine so it would help him wake up in the morning for early classes. Needless to say, the thief was climbing the walls thinking the Vodka had a funny taste. He was not the brightest.

Sounds like Karma got him!

Yer people were about three hrs south of mine. We were from the Inner Hebrides around the Port Appin area. Considered the Highlands. Greylag could probably school us both on this. I’m guessing Galway was the port of call in Ireland for the settlers leaving Scotland to load provisions for the long journey?

I think I’ve relayed this before. The Shamrock&Thistle was a Celtic music show that NPR used to put out in the early aughts…it was run by Fiona Richie and she’d do some interviews. It was based out of Mathews, NC just outside of Charlotte. She had a prof from Glasgow and he was running the ridges in the Blue Ridge MT’s around NC, TN, and VA; studying country musics link to Celtic music.

He kept hearing a peculiar term, to him, Scotch-Irish? Locals around these parts referred to themselves as being Scotch-Irish.

He figured out that the boat would leave Scotland full of kilt wearing whiskey slugging lads and stop in Ireland to pick up shamrock’s in their hair lasses! . Boy meets girl and both having strong cultural ties to their homeland, their offspring referred to themselves as Scotch-Irish!

Or so he says…good yarn notwithstanding! Seems kinda a no brainer to me.

Could very well be! My father's heritage is firmly Scottish; my mother's is Irish from around County Cork.

I did fall asleep within about a half hour. 25mg, just enough to take the edge off. Also worked on staking out the new garden fence, so a lot of allergens were in the mix. And maybe, just a little, bedtime cardio an hour before...

25 is a good starting dose. It will help with your allergies, too. Be careful not to take it on a regular basis, though. If you need a sleep aid, check with your PCP.

Bedtime cardio is the BEST sleep aid!

We did it!

We actually did it!

We went to a picnic at the reservoir!

I was nice. Lots of people for a weekday tho. I guess with the holiday weekend it filled up fast.

We didn't stay long but we walked along in knee deep water with the little one and pointed out the minnows. I'm sure by Saturday it will be overflowing with people, music and swimmers.

Bottom line we had fun and it was a little reset too.

I'm so glad you were able to go, Mitt! Sounds like you all had a good time!

Good morning all early risers. I didn’t want to wake up at 1 then, 2 then, 3. I finally got about 6 hours but need more. I also have to take care of my back, sinuses, etc. The to do list is to take care of my health.

Seems slow here, in general...

Busy last night putting up some garden fence posts. Two corners in, need to get the other two set, then start filling them in. cherries are in full bloom, but it's been in the 40's and 50's, so not sure if there are many critters pollinating them.

There are days that I just finish the day feeling worn out. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. Those days when I'm just tired of people. Even Friday doesn't give that lift it once did knowing we are headed into a weekend.

Jimmy Buffet made a fortune off of that vibe! Sometimes you just need a day with a drink in your hand and your toes in the sand…whether that trip be in yer head or for real! Even though Jimmy’s gone, the vibe will never die. Others have picked up the torch but nobody sang it like JB!

Back In the 4 a.m. club. When they get me on the dawn patrol, I stay there. Hope everyone has a nice Saturday. Go do some beach vibing if you need a mental trip!
