Who Loves the Supernatural?

With private residences, it is more often that not, it has been my experience, there is usually a very real explanation that makes people think that they have paranormal activity. Drafty windows for example can cause "cold spots". A dirty dusty house can cause orbs in pictures. Bee's living in the wall can cause noises that seem unusual. And some people are very relieved that there is a logical explanation. Some are upset that they don't have activity.

I enjoy investigating the famous haunted places like forts, libraries, antique shops, prisons.

I'm not such a believer that I don't think there are rational explanations for virtually all cases of potential supernatural phenomena, and I've watched a TV show about a building inspector who debunks a lot of those types of claims. Can't remember the name of it right now. But it is interesting. I also don't believe that every light or object in the sky is an alien spacecraft. And not every furry shape in the woods is Bigfoot. But I've seen enough evidence of ghosts, UFOs, and Bigfoot to believe that at least some of the evidence is genuine.

I stayed in this castle a few years back. I didn't know until I arrived that it is supposedly one of the most haunted castles. I didn't see anything during my stay, sadly, but this place has some history, and I bet there is some sort of energy going through it. You never know.

One of my favorite "open to the public" places in my area is Fort Mifflin in Philly. I have had so many experiences and caught many exciting audio events. Foot steps, voices, shadows...

Another is Fort Delaware. Not as amazing to investigate as Fort Mifflin but it is awesome.

I have had some interesting experiences at Gettysburg too.

The Halloween public investigations are okay and I have captured some interesting things but a lot of that I usually dismiss as people interference.

I don't think real ghosts actually care whether it's Halloween or not. You've gotten to explore some fantastic places! I've seen some very spooky footage from Gettysburg. I think Nuke has had several clips on his top five ghosts caught on camera videos on YouTube.

Hey all. How about a thread not revolving around sex? I have found through chatting with many folks on here that many, even on here, are very interested in and even fascinated by the supernatural and paranormal. And I have found that even with some very sexy and perverted chat partners, and if they read this they'll know who they are, talking about these issues can be very enjoyable. So I thought I'd start a thread where people could post their thoughts, theories, favorite movies or books, and/or memories about everything supernatural and paranormal. By that, I mean everything from ghosts and possessions to UFOs and alien encounters to cryptids to angels to Stonehenge to unexplained mysteries to extraordinary human powers, like ESP.

I believe in all sorts of currently unexplainable phenomena, but I come at the field from a logical, evidentiary, and scientific point of view.

I saw a UFO once, in college, but it was just a light in the sky that moved in ways that human aircraft don't move. I've never had an experience with a ghost, although I do believe in them. The closest thing I've ever experienced to extra sensory perception were some strong cases of dejà vu, in which I remember the event and could actually predict what happened next if I didn't tell anyone I was experiencing it. I have never seen Bigfoot, but I'd give my right nut to do so.

So feel free to post anything you want about anything paranormal or supernatural here. And have a great day!

I'm very curious. I've read up on things like wormholes, time travel, and the existence of spirits. It's fascinating.

One thing I'm trying to find out is that djinn exist in a different plane or dimension to us. That's why we can't see them. Science has found 10 demensions so far, even beyond the 5 basic length, breadth, depth/height, space and time.

Even old books like the Vedas and Upanishads talk about string theory and how dimensions are interconnected. It's very interesting and might explain other life forms on earth we DK about, let alone space which we're desperately exploring.

Battlefields have to be one of the best places to find paranormal activity. I’ve been to many and although never witnessed anything, you can feel the energy in places like Gettysburg.

When I have time I’ll post a couple of paranormal things I’ve witnessed personally when family members have passed. Some I can explain…others?

I love the super-spa-natural in all of it's forms, except for the ones I don't like. FYI, I've seen many apparitions (my house is 100 years old this year!) not kidding. I actually and literally believe my house might contain a portal.

Speaking of portals - if you want to discover a fascinating rabbit-hole along these lines, start researching the National Forests! Just....Grand Canyon alone can keep you busy for decades. "M" cave, anyone?

I think of supernatural in terms of dimensions. I am curious as to one thing because there's a philosopher who I had never heard of and was only recently exposed to his ideas, and to be quite honest I've been transfixed. This is a serious person but I mean...I've never heard of some of what he is proposing and it's mind blowing! His name is Terrence McKenna. Anyone familiar with his ideas?

I support the idea of non-sexual forums and would propose a Humor forum along with backing a Paranormal forum.

Sign me up I'm very interested. Just over 20 years ago I was involved with a paranormal investigating group. We always had a good time but usually fell short in coming up with any evidence. There was two occasions 1) in a cemetery near a revisionary war soldiers grave we documented on camera a near 15 degree temperature drop in like a minute...no wind. 2) a supposed cemetery where witches were buried we had some pics that came back with some smoke...no one was smoking and there was no fog.
We visited an old civil war hospital where you would think something would show up...but it didn't. I got out of the group after I married and while I'm still interested I just never got back into anything.

Still pretty great stories. Would have been fun just to do the exploring and investigating. And I think the sudden temperature drop is a near certain indication of paranormal activity.

I'm a big fan of a spooky ambience, love gothic suspense, period pieces with that kind of vibe. I enjoy the Universal and Hammer Horror series. I'm much more into the mood and the jump screams rather than the gore.

Same. I usually watch Nuke's top five ghosts caught on camera or similar YouTube channel every night and listen to a spooky podcast while I'm dozing off.

I relate to OP quite a bit in that I consider myself a skeptical believer of sorts; I trust science above pretty much anything else, including my own subjective experiences, and I believe the things we still call supernatural are in fact scientifically explicable, but we haven’t yet developed the science to understand it. Science doesn’t make anything less magical to me - quite the contrary, in fact.

That said, I’m a practicing Druid and have had some fantastical experiences of my own; I read tarot as well, like someone else on the thread mentioned, though for me it’s not predictive, it’s more guidance.

I can’t perceive ghosts, although I know people who believe they can. I believe there’s more likely to be other life in the universe than not, although I’m skeptical of most UFO accounts etc.

My most terrifying experience was several years ago with my then-17yo daughter: At the time we lived on a mountain in a national forest, and we had certain favorite walks near our home that were off-trail. We used landmarks and deer trails to navigate these walks *every day*; we only trusted ourselves off-trail at all because we were very familiar with the area, having lived there for years.

One favorite spot was a stone circle near the crest of a steep hillside. On this particular day, we went there to observe the autumn equinox. On our way back home, we were looking for certain plants and found a patch a little further east than we’d ventured before, still in view of our usual landmarks. While I was picking some sprigs to take home, my daughter called out to me that she’d found a portal I should come check out, since she knows I have a fascination for liminal spaces and especially things that resemble gateways.

She was right, it was a pair of trees hidden by a dip in the land; they formed a very picturesque archway, so I took pix of it for artistic inspiration.

Then we joked about how it might be great to go through a portal to an alternate timeline, and as part of the joke we both went “through the portal” meaning in this case between the trees. It gave me unexpected goosebumps, which I put down to a sudden chill (it was autumn , after all). Then we started back down the mountain, winding our way back to our familiar landmarks.

Except we couldn’t find them at first. We’d kept in sight of them like we always do when exploring, and in this case it was an enormous boulder split in half by an oak sapling growing out of the crack. The dip in the land was pretty steep and cut off our view while we were fooling around by the “gateway” we found; when we started back toward it, my stomach dropped because I couldn’t find it. Neither could she, and she has a whole compass in her brain that means she’s almost never confused about directions.

Finally we did find it, only it was in the wrong place relative to the next landmark, a hollow tree with a hornets’ nest in the trunk. These two landmarks were not in the same positions relative to each other, it was almost as if they’d switched. AND the sapling growing out of the rock was a pine, not an oak.

My daughter got scared and said we had to go back to the “portal” and go back through the other way, and I said nonsense, we were just a bit turned around, so we kept going. The same weirdness persisted all the way home; all our familiar spots and landmarks were slightly different from what we remembered; one or two were missing or unidentifiable.

Never before or since that time have I had anything close to a similar occurrence, but things really took a sharp turn in many ways after that.

It’s been years now, but I still feel very unsettled by the whole thing. I tell myself it’s most likely all in my head - and hers - and I have used all the simple explanations to soothe her AND myself - we got confused, we misremembered, we were just a little out of our usual route, etc etc. - and mostly I kinda believe that. But not entirely; deep down in my reptile brain I’m still sure something went batshit haywire that day, and that part of me is more convinced rather than less.

Back when my daughter was in Kindergarten, she told me abuelito says it's time to hang up the painting. We had a painting of my husband's grandparents in storage that my kids had never seen. What made it really creepy is that she described what they were wearing and knew the nicknames we called them by when we had never shared that with them. Both of his grandparents had passed years before I even met my husband.

I watch a lot of "ghosts caught on tape" type videos on YouTube, and have seen several where a child points to, looks at, and has a conversation with a deceased relative, even right in front of a living parent. And it's fascinating how they'll say things that they have no logical way of knowing, especially about grandparents they never met.
