Call this a shot in the dark.

I am a writer. I write erotic romance stories predominantly, but I do sometimes venture into other genres when the mood strikes me. I am looking for help, specifically someone who can help motivate me and inspire me to write. I have found in the past that this only works from the help of a woman. It doesn't matter how old you are, or what you look like, but I would appreciate a woman of intelligence and who values reading. I am looking for someone who is happy to let me bounce ideas off of her, offer suggestions, advice, or support. I like discussing the finer points of a scene. I like to explore the nuances of a moment. For me, it is imperative that the flow of the words matches the theme of the scene. Intricacy, complexity, subtlety, things left unsaid, etc. I thoroughly enjoy describing a single moment that conveys a mountain of emotions. Ultimately, I would prefer someone who actually enjoys my writing style. If you do not, it probably won't be a good fit. I don't mind constructive criticism as I would hope you bring out the best writer I can be. I don't need you to write the story, I will write it. But if you would like to help and collaborate I would appreciate that. If you have editing skills that would be a bonus.

Please read some of my stories before responding. You can start with this one:

If this appeals to you, resonates with you, then please reach out and PM me. Happy to discuss further.

Hi. 😀

As a male writer who has collaborated on several stories with a woman friend and fellow author, I can perhaps point you in the right direction by explaining how my writing partnership with her happened.

Your best bet is to simply become a regular part of the AH forum. Comment on posts, interact with fellow authors of all genders. Get to know them, let them get to know you.

Read their stories. Find an author who's work you enjoy and feel compatible with. Talk to them, get to know them, see if they're even interested in collaborating. See if they like your stories, if you share the same interests, etc.

The odds are incredibly slim anyone will simply message you and offer to write with you based on this one post.

But if you're serious about it, then consider the advice above.

Best wishes in your search.

Apropos of nothing, isn't it curious how people are always looking for a female writing partner, never "anyone" or "a woman or a gay or bisexual man who can help me understand what makes a man attractive"? Or even "someone who can help me with language/plotting/imagery"?

You'd think gender wouldn't matter as much as compatibility in interests, styles, ideas, personalities etc.

I blame the Greeks. If there had just been another muse named Steve or something we'd all have a lot more options for where to seek inspiration.

I'd add to what @Djmac1031 posted, and point out that women on this site tend to be cautious, understandably so. I'm not suggesting you are a creep, but there are a lot floating around on Lit, and many (perhaps most) have encountered creeps. As a man, I can't answer for their reaction to your request, but I can predict that a lot of women will be thinking, 'here we go again...'

So, if you don't get any volunteers, don't be surprised, and don't feel bad about it: feel bad about the creeps that make women (very understandably) not want to engage.

Honestly not sure what any of this has to do with gender or why a woman specifically is needed.

Genuinely curious as to the rationale.

Amuse, abuse, same difference depending on the activity.... 😉
I agree, after all, both sounds are bilabial, differing only in mode of production, with one being nasal and the other explosive. Some languages, notably those in the Bantu family, include an implosive bilabial phoneme. It is usually written as /mb/. If you'd like to try it, pronounce a /b/ while inhaling rather than exhaling. Did it? It is, of course, the sound of a kiss. To combine the letters, then, we would get /ambuse/, which could be quite interesting in an erotic story.

Huh-huh, huh-huh, you said "bilabial".

(Coming from someone who almost used "alveodental" in a post earlier today.)
/Dentolabial/ could be quite useful in the context of an erotic story. Perhaps the protagonista bit her lower lip at the onset of arousal.

(By the way, I did graduate studies in linguistics at the City University of New York. I believe I am the only diplomaed C.U.N.Y. Linguist on Literotica.)

Women rarely have to look far to find a dude ready to tell them how to do the thing...

I think it might be. If you want a woman to explore fun times, pop this in Personals, but if you want a writer colleague, you're in the right place to find a writer. However, gender has nothing to do with the ability to write.

I've collaborated with three different writers, two men and one woman, and I can say, their gender made no difference at all. Except when Jase would send copy back, and he'd changed every reference to the girl to a slim hipped boy. We agreed to call him/her Jesse to at least solve one problem. That got annoying, bless his soul.

The point is, prescribing a woman to help you write erotica doesn't quite come across the way you want it to.

And dudes just have chatGPT to authoritatively explain something that it knows nothing about.
I've observed that most dudes who will explain things are quite happy to do it authoritatively to other dudes as well (it's not gay!). Or to any audience that can't or won't escape, really.

So you want a literary girlfriend, wife, mommy, and unpaid copyeditor who inspires you, loves everything you write, gives you the very gentlest constructive feedback but never ever makes you feel bad 🙄

I always think the same thing.

I sometimes think it would be funny to create a female pen name, then offer to write with someone looking for a woman. I'd do it for two reasons.

1-To see if its legit about writing or do they turn into a creeper

2-Could I fool them

But neither is worth the effort

Thank you @Djmac1031 for your advice.

As for the rest of you, thank you for offering your opinions as to why I asked for a woman's help.

I asked for a woman because the stories I want to write involve the main character being a WOMAN. I wanted her perspective to make it believable and relatable. I have worked with men in the past and it didn't work out.

So thank you so much for high jacking, railroading and perverting my intentions. Obviously none of you have read my stories. Or know the first thing about me.

Thank you all for following the theme and intent of this post. Thank you for making this a judgement free zone. Thanks for making me feel like I could belong here as a writer. Apropos. Idiots.
