Fringe movement sparks divide with push to charge women who get abortions

An emboldened fringe movement is breaking with the antiabortion establishment by pushing for women who get abortions to face criminal charges, a departure from decades of “pro-life” tradition.

The “abortion abolitionist” movement wants to see the procedure eradicated and supports changing the law to grant personhood to embryos, making their destruction an act of homicide that would be punishable by death in some states.

Critics and legal experts say abortion abolitionism is rooted in Christian nationalism. But T. Russell Hunter, the president of the Oklahoma-based group Abolitionists Rising, described the stance as “unapologetically biblical” — and unafraid of clashes with establishment antiabortion groups.

Objective facts matter.

Abortion isn't murder.

People thinking it is is an opinion
What is legal and/or acceptable varies over time. How many people had to die to eliminate slavery? :)

So do you live in the Present time or are you living in the past or the future?

Right now, abortion isn't murder, in our country.

Maybe in your time it's changed?

This is like the Gun Owners of America existing as a separate and even gun-nuttier organization than the NRA -- it's a sociological symptom that changes nothing politically.

This was the ultimate goal all along.

The court system couldn't handle an additional million abortion cases per year. :)
