Resubmit the story with the same title plus the word EDIT, change the category, add a note to the editor saying what you've done. Changes like this are low priority, anywhere between 2 - 4 weeks. Your scores and any comments won't change. You won't get a run on the EC front page, though.

There are instructions in the FAQ on publishing stories:

"If you need to change the Title, Category, or Description of your published story, please follow the instructions found in the FAQ question titled I’ve edited my story and want to replace the published version with a new edit. How do I do that? Let us know what changes you are making to the story (Title, Category, or Description) in the Author’s Note field on the submission page before submitting the edit."

I have strong opinions about "category collapse" here, the genres were set in the 1990s and haven't changed since then

Why is there a Gay category and a Lesbian category, but not a Bisexual category? Why is Transgender and Crossdressing lumped together in one reductive (and frankly, kind of transphobic) category?

I imagine there would be a lot of coding challenges on the database side of Lit, but I desperately wish that we could reform the story categories and allow authors to "multi-class" their stories. Erotic Coupling/Bisexual. Group Sex/Transgender. Sci-fi & Fantasy/Romance. Etc.

You're preaching to the choir. I've been here ten years and this has been a constant "ask". The site has promised a major upgrade where tags take precedence over the (aged) categories, but that's been on the cards since 2020, thereabouts. Don't hold your breath!
