Overrated fantasies?

What fantasies seemed like they would be incredibly hot, but when you lived them they were underwhelming?

For example: shower sex. Movies make sex in the shower look like the pinnacle of eroticism. In reality, half of you is cold, and warm water is subpar lubricant.

How about: what are some experiences you’ve imagined that you believe are best left in the realm of fantasy?

in my experience, the only fantasies that came to life that were underwhelming, involved a partner that wasn't so into the nature of the fantasy, and that can make or break a fantasy being a fulfilling experience.

Example: Fantasized about having sex on the hood of a car.

The first time, was mind blowing, she was fully into it, both of us enjoying the thrill of public sex, the warm hood, the full moon overhead, knowing we could get caught at any time.

The next time it happened, the different partner had talked about wanting to try public sex, she suggested the place, a little more secluded than the first experience, otherwise, it was still a warm hood, full moon, clear sky...and she was too tense being worried about getting caught to really get into it.

That being said, the same one who made hood sex amazing, we snuck into a golf course late at night for a little "9th Hole Stretch", the fantasy had come about because I ended up working a golf tourney with a catering company, and seeing all the lovely LPGA ladies in their golf skirts, and well, fantasies arose. It started off really good, but rapidly went down hill fast. The thrill of getting caught was still there, it was warm, light breeze, the conditions were perfect for the public sex we often got up to. Soon however, we realized just how course and stiff the green was cut, in no time we had grass burns, but worse, those grass burns got a little bit infected. Both of us ended up with uncomfortable patches of skin that just seemed to take forever to heal over. Learned later we had ended up with minor chemical burns from all of the fertilizer and other things they were putting on the greens to keep them so bright.

what are some experiences you’ve imagined that you believe are best left in the realm of fantasy?

If I want something to be true and real, I'd try to do something based on what's been happening in reality. I should not just sit and fantasize and hope it'd come true.

If I just sit and fantasize without doing something, the purpose is to enjoy my mental state of fantasizing. If it comes true, great. If it does not, it does not.

This is a great example! And, as someone who spends a lot of time around golf courses, noted!
