Folks, there have been many active scammer accounts recently, including one that created their account today.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If they want you to go to another site (especially Telegram, WhatsApp, or Zangi - these seem to be the most common here lately), keep your guard up. The one today is using social engineering tactics to convince people to give them social media log-in information. “She” shares information, too, like a trust exercise. And “her” login will supposedly give access to photos and videos. But, too late, you’ll have given your login info to a scammer.

I’m going to bump this thread whenever I think we might have an active scammer. Feel free to bump it yourself.

I’ll post usernames when reports are coming in with details that prove the suspicion.

I get the accounts banned as quickly as I can, but it’s not instant. Please be cautious.

This account has been banned. Will bump the thread if a new one pops up.

If we react as a community then they will go away and find easier targets. I try to hook up with every suspicious poster I come across. Their methods are so crude that I really worry about this stuff actually working in the wild, without great effort or adjustment on their part.

Sometimes I worry that I remove the threads and, therefore, the evidence of them being a scammer. People don’t have a post history to search through and might be more likely to fall victim. I think calling them out has to be the best plan.

I think if they make another post, I’m going to lock the thread and comment with a link to this thread.

It's sad you had to post this. I can't believe there are people who are THAT naiive

I can see deleted posts in this forum. I wish you would have left that one. People feel bad enough when they are scammed, especially by romance scammers. Keeping the blame on the scammers and being a community that looks out for each other is ideal.

Mis laura21 (actual username doesn’t have the space, but it can’t be typed out in the forum as it has been banned due to the frequency with which it has been used in usernames of scammers here).
