The Wall Street Journal has a "scoop" this morning: Orange Julius Caesar has decided to split Veterans Day into two separate holidays and rename each of them.
By imperial decree of Cadet Bonespurs™ ,
  • November 11th will now be called Victory Day for World War 1
  • May 8th will now be called Victory Day for World War 2
These events commemorate the last times that segregated American forces won "unconditional surrenders" from their opponents (yes, I realize World War 1 was ended by "armistice" rather than "unconditional surrender", but Teh New Narrative says otherwise.

Military forces who served during Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan don't get a "memorial day" because they all failed to win their respective "wars". Also, recognizing any of those conflicts would run counter to current anti-DEI initiatives and also would be harmful to former Fox News weekend anchor and current Secretary of Defense Pickled Pete Hegseth's directive to "re-segregate" the American military forces.

That's fine. It used to be called Armistice Day but calling it Victory Day would also align with President Wilson's statement about the day which recognizes the victory.

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

He's still lying.

Say, if we're going to have "Victory Days," how about celebrating a "Victory Day" for the Civil War?

Lee surrendered on April 9.

You can observe it by vandalizing the nearest Confederate memorial.

Desert Storm was a total victory.
Desert Storm was a tactical win but a strategic half-measure, a war that solved the surface problem while leaving the deeper ones to metastasize. Thus, the need for a second invasion ten years later. A total victory wouldn't have required a sequel.

There was no need for a second invasion ten years later, which turned out to be highly regrettable. Hussein's regime had nothing at all to do with 9/11. It was as if FDR had responded to the attack on Pearl Harbor by invading Brazil. And Iraq -- and the MENA in general -- still has not recovered from the resulting quagmire.

And Desert Storm exactly achieved its stated aim -- the restoration of Kuwait's independence. Bush said at the time, "Our aim is not to conquer Iraq."

"I'm going to rename the day we celebrate veterans because we never celebrate anything."

What?

Lets not forget, the USA didn't win WW1. Your green troops got their ass kicked by a demoralised, hungry, exhausted and logistically challenged German army. You suffered over 54,000 deaths, and another 64,000 died from stupidity of being lead by "green" commanders in less than 6 months....

Fuck you didn't fight until May 28th 1918, Germany had already discussed surender in December of the previous year....

What you are experiencing is a president from the private sector attempting to get things done instead of a political president happy with the status quo. :)

Government isn't a business, and can't run as such. Oh and you left out the most important part....see above in bold...

No, we are experiencing a narcissist stoking his own ego at the expense of everyone else in the world. 🤫

In many instances in this forum, that includes not seeing the splinter in one's own eye while trying to remove one from an opponent's. 👁️😵‍💫
Let's hope you don't get judged and dismissed 4 months into your job. :)

So not a problem; I won't work for a guy who would do that. I was self-employed for over 50 years. Retired some fifteen years ago. At 87, most people wouldn't judge me as they don't consider me a threat. Though they can judge my Lit works if they want. I'm open to that. 🤫

"Veterans Day" is hereby renamed "Screaming Faggots Day."

Much easier name to remember than "World War II Victory Day."

Veterans including myself are perfectly happy with the current two days devoted to Veterans and memorializing the dead.

DOGE fired everyone hired by the federal government over the last two years, without even attempting to evaluate their performance or importance.

Saddam Hussein was left in power with a formidable army.
