I was in high school when that came out, and I totally knew what they were singing about... which is funny because I usually didn't pay attention to the lyrics. I never thought it was kinky.

Which is also true of Billy Squire's "The Stroke". I was actually surprised when someone told me what they thought it meant. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As a musician, I want to point out, the way Devo played, with that mechanical precision, is very, difficult. Those guys were crazy good. Like... over the top, amazing.

They actually played this. No sequencers, no auto-tune to make them sing in key, no drum machines. Just, talented musicians.

Getting off my soapbox now. Sorry... it just upsets me how many performers now don't actually have the ability to perform what they say is their stuff.

I taught a Mothersbaugh when I was a band director, he did NOT inherit his dad's abilities! lol
 
Typical me... I had no plan, no tune in mind... I just found a very basic drum beat on this 4 track recorder. Then made up some weird bass parts to go along with it. One shot, no retakes. Then I went to add guitar. And my original vision was to use my semi-hollow body, with a really clean, jazzy tone. But while I laid down the bass part, I thought that won't work. It needs a crazy, hot rod guitar. So... I brought out my baby... an American made Fender Stratocaster with an unusual pickup configuration. And being me, of course I replaced the excellent pickups with better, excellent pickups.

First take? Disaster. Horrible. My weird concept sounded like a dog's breakfast (ask an Aussie).

Second take? Shit. Neither take even when the length of the tune.

Third take? Slightly less stinky shit. But that's it, and I stopped and am compiling/rendering the results right now. I'm not sure if I should even post this rubbish. My little "let it rip and see what happens" concept didn't really make cool this time. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm totally cool with that. sometimes art, doesn't work. I think this mess qualifies in that arena. I'm just not sure anyone else wants to suffer through this. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The windows were replaced this afternoon. They even cleaned up after replacement. Having a management company to do everything is nice. Lady K is OK now. They temporarily moved us into another building while the replacement was done so the dust wouldn't be bothersome to K. Thursday's forecast is bad again with possiblely high winds and heavy rain again. I'll keep you posted on that. Friday & Saturday may be the same. Monsoon like weather, it seems for our Spring the year.
