That’s so awesome!! I’m so fascinated by how you do that… which one do you record first? Do you have a sense of what you’re going to play in the second one that will go with the first or do you just wait until you’ve done the first one and then go with what works? It seems so complicated!!

I started with @Qky75 ’s cool drum track. It was originally about a minute long, so I edited it (copy and paste) so it kept going for 4 minutes or more.

Then I put down the bass, because I love playing bass, accompanying some drums. That was just super fun to me. I didn’t give too much thought to what I would accompany with it. I assumed I would do a rhythm track, and a separate lead track.

I was playing typical the 12 bar blues progression, so to make it interesting, after 2 verses I switched to just staying on the root for 12 measures, then switched back on the next verse. And Q’s drum track also was timed to a 12 bar progression, so his accents were in the perfect spot for what I was playing.

Then when I started on what I intended to be the rhythm track, I wanted to give the bass part lots of room (sonically). So I was staying rather high and quickly realized (while I was playing), that it would sound muddy with two guitar parts so I just did some lead work in the track I was recording.

That was so much fun for me! I love playing along with a drum track, I find they are very inspiring to me where I want to go.


As an aside, Friday night, I recorded a cool, funky bass line along with a built in drum track. It sounded pretty cool to me, but when I went to put on a guitar track, I realized I had no idea what to do to accompany the funky bass and drums.

Wow… this is so cool!! For years, I have been fascinated with chord inversions on guitar. Over the years, I have spent countless hours working out different inversions. They are also in tons of books, but I enjoy figuring them out myself so I understand exactly what is what, and what I can change for the effect I want.

I saw a video pop up about some “magic chord” so of course I was curious. The guy starts talking, trying to establish a rapport, and is ironically describing the approach to guitar I kind of hated when I was starting out years ago. But when he finally gets to the meat… he throws out a simple inversion that I really, should have worked out years ago. Super easy to do… I just never found it. And as soon as I heard it, I knew it was the chord from “Wind Cries Mary” I could never figure out.

Well… I got it now… I will undoubtedly incorporating that a whole lot in my stuff.

Foot is less painful after applying new strapping, only a few times today when I felt intense pain. And yes I wore my sensible ankle boots that only has a 1.7 inch heel.
