preliminary arguments re. birth right citizenship on May 15th. The focus will be as to whether the states and NGO's that ran to the inferior courts to obtain injunctions even had the standing to do so. There is a VERY strong argument that they do not have standing.

If the case is decided on standing, that leaves the birthright-citizenship issue unresolved.

oh look...another.....
Letting that "Sink In" was just the beginning.

Fist comes the "Code Walk Through", damn I'd like to be in on that. Followed by pink slips for 75-80% of the employees. Hell, if it were me I'd re-incorporate in TX, or FL. Maybe that's next.

And the employees wrote and open letter to Musk and then punctuated it with demands. Apparently they think they're still in charge. They should probably have been better off listing to some old Bob Dylan "cause a hard rain's gonna fall."

You can always tell when you're dealing with the delusional in that they demand respect. Never seems to occur to them that respect is earned.

Mexico and Canada are going to end up paying dearly for their prideful responses. Their retaliatory tariffs are going to make very little difference to the US economy.

Trump wants just two things from each of them;

1. Police their borders for illegals and drug trafficking.

2. Discontinue trans-shipments of Chinese goods. China is shipping shit into Mexico and Canada to avoid US tariffs. Brokers each of those nations add a small markup and then ship to the US thereby avoiding the tariffs on Chinese goods.

That is precisely what they are risking their economies over.
Yah these threads turned out well didn't they Ish.

Why are you trying to convince us that you MAGAts or the felon give a shit what decision SCOTUS makes at this point?

It's that diabolical looking bald man in his administration. He's responsible for all of these xenophobic bullshit policies they are trying to do. Remember, he was the guy who put kids in cages in the first mis-administration. If he could put people in gulags, he would because he is that demonic.

The orange felon is not very bright, however he is surrounded by very nefarious entities whispering things into his ears (bald man, Eloon, Navarro, etc).

What is it with you "progressives" that prevents you from acknowledging that illegal aliens are NOT the same as legal immigrants? They don't have the same standing or status and for good reason. I've heard no one in any position to do anything that has mentioned halting all immigration and even with the various Trump policies legal immigration is taking place just as it was before.

I hope to see a carefully considered and written decision with a look ahead to long term issues. When climate change becomes more severe, entire states may be abandoned. The states drawing refugees may close their borders.

What about Ted Cruz?

Born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father.

He’s “ american”?

******

If diplomats’ children and enemy combattants’ children born in the USA during a war aren’t Americans, I can see an argument for the children of illegal immigrants born stateside not being American.

What about it? That is actually the basis of the argument AGAINST birth right citizenship. It goes right to the phrase "and under the jurisdiction thereof." As a US citizen his mother was "under the jurisdiction" of the US so Cruz is a US citizen. Had his mother renounced her citizenship and sworn allegiance to Canada then the story would be different.

Re. Trumps EO, it does not effect any children born BEFORE the EO was issued, ex post facto laws and/or regulations are expressly forbidden by the Constitution.

The AND is emboldened because of the fact that is a required condition and it doesn't merely mean that the US can arrest you for the commission of a crime. You are not fully under the jurisdiction of the US until you become a citizen by swearing allegiance which is why we can, and do, deport legal immigrants that hold green cards.

This is going to consume a ton of court time and SCOTUS is going to eventually make a final determination. The current hearing before the court is to determine whether the current appellants have standing, facially they don't.

The Cruz example is ancestry.

The other example is geography.

That’s why I separated them.

The Cruz ancestry one is ( i think) a weak claim to being born american.

I think children of illegal immigrants born in the USA are more righteously Americans at birth than Ted Cruz.

Ted Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban father. Patrilineal Blood law says he’s Cuban, geography says he’s Canadian…his mother being American is really no more than a footnote. :)

*CHUCKLE* Latin families trace ancestry matrilinealy. Regardless, what you 'think' is of no importance at all. I can conversely argue that Cruz should have long ago become a naturalized citizen, right?

Why would we suddenly need to deport people who are born in America?
Children born to foreign diplomats and foreign military personnel stationed here in the US are NOT granted citizenship. That was settled by SCOTUS back in the 1880's. That being the case why would we grant citizenship to the children of fucking criminals and casual visitors?

That’s not a reason. If you’re unfamiliar with why we do grant people born in America citizenship you’re not really prepared for this conversation.

Do you have an actual reason?

Because the Constitution says so.

MAGA sheep are eager to throw out that troublesome Constitution.
