Trump vs Universities

I don't care what the problem is trump is just seeing how far he can take his bullshit. The horror is Congress that does NOTHING. If trump gets to run for a third term the democraps need to run ANOTHER woman against him. Jesus fucking Christ on a stick.

A very expensive Harvard degree was worth the cost, once upon a time. It's the usual route of prestige and money becoming institutional senility. Employers now look elsewhere for smart employees. That will eventually matter to high school kids making their college decisions. Harvard is free to refuse Trump's recommendations and all federal money, but it will eventually take advice from someone, or unemploy itself.

Insert Requisite Name is a private corporation. They should not be getting government tax breaks.

As a conservative minded US taxpayer, I AM NOT FINE with them being granted subsidies either.

FYP.
I'm fine with subsidies for research and development advancement. Until you establish a separate avenue to achieve this, our Universities are where that occurs in all technological fields.

This part of the demands placed on Harvard is interesting:

Viewpoint Diversity in Admissions and Hiring
Every department or field found to lack viewpoint diversity must be reformed by hiring a critical mass of new faculty within that department or field who will provide viewpoint diversity; every teaching unit found to lack viewpoint diversity must be reformed by admitting a critical mass of students who will provide viewpoint diversity.

What happened to making everything merit-based?
The universities have rather shot themselves in the foot, over the years. When they institute illiberal policies on hiring and speech they can hardly complain if someone else tries to dictate OTHER illiberal policies!

They are the engines of the most impressive scientific and technological advances the world has ever seen.

If President Trump is going to kill that over demonstrators waving palestinian watermelon flags, then the USA really will lose its predominant position in the modern economy.

No Ivy League university will shut down in your lifetime.

Wrong tense.
Not "going to" but "did".

Trumpelon has bought the courts.
Trumpelon is bullying big lawyer firms into donating billions of dollars on pain of being declared non-law firms.
Trumpelon is bullying entire countries into giving money to Trumpelon.
Trumpelon is firing anyone who even appears to have an agenda of being nice.
Trumpelon is decreeing that they can decide who is a criminal (no conviction required) and that person can be sent to a foreign gulag.
Trumpelon crashes the economy with bizarre policies and then boasts that they are brilliant economists by reducing those policies.
Now Trumpelon is trying to decide what colleges can teach, with the Secretary of Education being a glorified children's entertainer with fake tits who cannot spell 'AI'.

Yup, sounds like democracy in action.

Good

It's become quite apparent that Project 2025 is determined to root out all teachings of tolerance in both public and private schools, not only the usual K-12 primary-to-high-schools but at university levels as well.

Colleges have had somewhat of a mixed reaction so far.
  • Georgetown Law School - Government demanded "federal oversight" over curriculum or lose funding and blackballing graduates from internships and government positions. Georgetown not only said GFY but said it would modify their first year curriculum to present this government attempt at hostile takeover as a case study. Attorney General Pam Biondi seems to hate the Ivy League more that Rebel5Soul hates blacks.
  • Columbia University - Columbia has caved in completely. 15 percent of their endowment comes from fascist Jewish billionaires (like Bill Ackman) who have redefined "Israel's Right To Exist" to mean "Israel's Right To Exist Requires Eradication of All Arabs." Don Cheetolini is doing the dirty work for Israel's Likkud Fascists, rounding up and deporting virtually every Columbian student who has ever said any thing negative about the Israeli Genocide.
  • Harvard - Harvard stands against federal oversight and has said they will not revert to hiring mediocre white males over qualified minorities.
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - published a mealy mouthed statement that they stood with Harvard last night, and they don't want ICE on their campus, m'kay?

Sounds more like inaction.

And suddenly, out of nowhere, another fan of 1984 emerges, who will never understand it read the book.

See, gents?
That's how it is done
Orwell never imagined we would buy our own telescreens, and carry them in our pockets.

In this case, the issue is the grant itself. It was awarded by another administration. Trump should honour the agreement. If he doesn't wish to offer any more, that's fine. Harvard would just make different plans in the future.

What Trump has done, once again,is remove the required trust. He's done it with most other world nations, he's doing it with Universities. It's painfully obvious, Trump's word is useless, and no one can trust the United States to keep any promises, or deals while he or his cohorts are running the show.

Enjoy four years or more of going it alone, while your brain drain speeds up. I'm good, we have a bunch of specialist in Medical and Scientific research all looking to come here. I'm good with that.

Don Cheetolini™ is rambling today on Trooth Social that perhaps it is time to revoke Harvard's tax exempt status, they are after all a "private entity".

What a bitter, vindictive man-child.

Now had he said "churches" instead of "Harvard", I might have agreed with him......

Harvard is welcome to set up shop here in Canada. After all it's Trump who loves the poorly educated, the rest of us want to live in a modern society.

Educational institutions are sacred spaces in progressive religion. The progs here are reacting like bible thumpers at a church arson.
