Trump fucks up again. Ukraine negotiation goes sideways

Doddering Donnie brings out the classics ! He feeds the gullible MAGA sheep the same bull over and over:
  1. Biden biDEn Biiiiiiiiiiden
  2. Putin respects me
  3. Elections rigged!
  4. Crooked Joe!
  5. Zelenskyy started the war!
Soon he’ll be so desperate that he’ll be back to “Obama is a Kenyan Muslim!” 😆

Well, one less gullible sheep here.

Well, one less gullible sheep here.

I apologize to everyone who I sounded off at for opposing Trump. I was wrong wrong wrong.

You can almost be forgiven.

The gaslighting from the Russian and right wing propaganda machines was next level. And if you were surrounded by a herd of right wing sheep, it would have been difficult to truly hear decent, intelligent individuals’ arguments against DonOld, etc, over the bleating.

Welcome back to some sense of reality and sanity.

What we are witnessing now from the White House, is a clear smearing campaign aimed not only at Zelesnky but on Ukraine at whole. Zelensky is being used as a target, but the goal is to weaken Ukraine in whole, and to strengthen Moscow. President Zelenskyy has been verbally attacked by President Trump numerous times, now with the following four main lines of accusation:

a) Zelensky is ungrateful
b) Zelensky is corrupt
c) Zelensky is a dictator
d) Zelensky has started the war / is interested in war.

None of this is true, and in repeartimg these accusations again and again, President Trump and VP Vance are both lying, communicating and reinforcing misinformation, and repeating Russian propaganada lie for lie.

Let's address these:
  1. President Zelensky has thanked the U.S. people dozens of times for the help provided. "Corruption" is a typical russian lie, used also by russia-friendly voices, who claim with no prooof, and against all the evidence (there have been numerous audits, conducted by the US military amongst others) that Ukraine-delivered arms were "stolen". But let us address other accusations;
  2. Is Zelensky a "dictator"? No. He has over-run his term, but this is a constitutional requirement: no elections may be held amidst a war (for a good reason: 100,000's of soldiers cannot candidate, any public gathering is endangered, millions of citizens are prisoners in the occupied territories or are refugees). This law existed in the Constitution years before Zelensky was elected President (by an overwhelming majority incidentally).
  3. Opposition media exists in Ukraine, openly criticising him and his team (and believe me, in Germany many Zelensky's critics would have been prosecuted, but not in Ukraine, as Ukraine's politicians have a much higher tolerance for personal and political criticism). So please, just stop repeating nonsense.
  4. Did Zelensky start the war? No! The war has started in 2014, when Zelensky was a TV comedian (not even his predecessor Poroshenko was a president at that time). Russia annexed Crimea, and sent troops into Donbas. Zelensky's presidential campaign, when he ran for President, was aimed at finding a compromise with Russia and this was one of the reasons he was elected with such an overwhelong majority.
  5. After being elected in 2019, Zelensky offered Putin a number of cease fires. Ukraine removed troops from the contact line, pulled troops back for several miles, partly demolished bunkers and removed mine fields. Russia has never done the same.
  6. Two days before the full-scale invasion by Russia began, Zelensky addressed russian people in the russian language, urging them not to attack Ukraine, and pointing out that private and personal relations between many families in Ukraine and in russia. He was calling for peace - and even wearing a suit.
  7. Even after the full-scale invasion, Zelensky stressed many times: no nation in the world is as interested in peace as Ukrainians. Ukrainians who suffer losses every day. But Ukraine needs real peace, not the occupation and not mere;y a ceasefire until the next Russian attack (Russia has broken every ceasefire it has ever signed, with anyone, not just Ukraine. That's why Ukraine fights.
So for those attacking Zelemsky and Ukraine, cut the nonsensical pro-Russian bullshit. Trump can’t weaken Zelenskyy in the slightest. Ukraine is behind him. The EU supports him. A majprity of the American people support him. Trump is looking like not only a fool, but more and more like a pro-Russian traitor to America and to the free world every time he opens his mouth. His latest statements on Ukraine, and on refusing to sell Ukraine Patriot systems for defence against Russian terrorist attacks, make it obvious that Trump is openly siding with Russia.

A Hero of Our Time, and a blustering sycophantic pro-Russian genocide enabler.

Witkoff says '5 territories' key to proposed Russia-Ukraine deal after meeting Putin

Confirming his position as a pro-Putin traitor, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said on April 14 that his recent talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were "compelling" and centered around a possible peace deal based on the status of "five territories." Quisling Witkoff, who met with Putin in St. Petersburg on April 11, described the meeting as productive, claiming the Russian president expressed a desire for "a permanent peace," as he launched terrorist attacks on civilians in Sumy, though it "took a while for us to get to" that point.

"This peace deal is about these so-called five territories," Witkoff said in comments for Fox News. "But there's so much more to it. I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very important for the world at large." Though Witkoff did not name the territories directly, he appeared to refer to Crimea, illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, and the partially occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts. Moscow declared the annexation of the latter four regions in 2022. Witkoff also outlined his real reasons for attemptimg to sell Ukraine down the river - spelling out a broader strategic extortion attempt by Trump tied to business incentives. "I see a possibility of reshaping the Russian-United States relationship through some very compelling commercial opportunities," Witkoff said. "That gives real stability to the region too."

"Some" U.S. officials have raised alarms over the direction of the Trump administration's diplomacy. The Wall Street Journal reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg are wasting their time "urging" President Donald Trump to resist territorial concessions to Moscow. The sooner they realize they are wasting their time and resign rather than be associated with the disastrous pro-Russian Trump regime the better - Trump is siding with Witkoff, who fantasizes that Putin is interested in reaching a peace deal, the outlet wrote. According to Reuters, Witkoff believes Putin's propaganda and told Trump that recognizing Russian control over the four partially occupied regions would be the quickest way to secure a ceasefire. This approach mirrors Kremlin demands and has sparked concern among Kyiv's allies.

Of course, despite Trimps fake ceasefire efforts, Russia continues to reject the full 30-day ceasefire proposal backed by the United States and which Ukraine was coerced into accepting. A non-existent partial truce covering energy infrastructure has repeatedly been violated by Russian forces. Witkoff, who izs widely viewed as a Russian stooge, has visited Russia several times this year and serves as Trump's top "negotiator", has drawn criticism for adopting Kremlin talking points, particularly regarding the nature of Russia's occupation and the prospects of trading territory for peace. Since returning to office in January, the Trump administration has resumed direct talks with the Kremlin and signaled a "diminished" commitment to Ukraine's defense, even as Russia intensifies terror attacks on Ukrainian civilians.

Trump has a deep grudge against Zelensky - but he’s now taken it further than ever before

Trump’s victim-shaming of Ukraine is ugly and symptomatic of something more dangerous.
world affairs editor Sam Kiley

What could possess Donald Trump to victim shame Ukraine’s president and endorse the actions of an indicted war criminal by backing Vladimir Putin? Personal hatred of Volodymyr Zelensky? A near-demented obsession with personal sleight? A radical strategic vision that’s upended world affairs? Something worse?

Probably.

Soon after the massacre in Sumy, where two Iskander missiles slammed into the provincial Ukrainian capital killing 35 people, including two children, Trump sloughed off the atrocity by claiming it had been a Russian mistake. Shocking, but not surprising, as Trump has consistently taken the Russian side at every opportunity this year. Before most of the bodies could be collected from the city morgue, though, he had gone on the offensive by doubling down on his efforts to pin Ukraine’s suffering on its president. “When you start a war, you got to know you can win,” he said of Ukraine’s leader.

Zelensky was not president when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. He was elected by a landslide in 2019. Russia launched its attempt to kill him, capture Kyiv, and colonise Ukraine in February 2022. He didn’t start the war with Russia – and wasn’t president when Ukraine enshrined the goal of Nato membership in its 2018 constitution. Zelensky did, however, earn Trump’s anger by being a disloyal recipient of America’s largesse, mostly financial aid, for failing to open an investigation into Hunter Biden’s business deals in Ukraine in July 2019. Joe Biden was the likely Democrat candidate in the election of 2020. Back then, Trump was impeached by congress over his alleged threat to withhold $400m in US military aid to Ukraine unless Zelensky helped with the Biden campaign, and other anti-Democrat operations. Trump was cleared by the senate but the damage had been done. He bears a deep grudge against Zelensky.

But Trump was already a Russian strategic partner. His relationship with Moscow goes back to 1987 when he made his first trip to the capital of the Soviet Union to scout for investment opportunities. He didn’t ever do any deals in Russia. But Russian bankers have backed some of his enterprises since. Trump has always been sloppy with state secrets since his first term in office. His own top intelligence staff have risked easy penetration by foreign spies because they’ve been using their personal phones for top secret communications. So it is reasonable to assume that America’s adversaries, like Russia, have deep knowledge and understanding of every aspect of the 47th president’s life – and have done for decades.

His support for Russian G7/8 membership, his refusal to put tariffs on Moscow this month, he has adopted every one of Russia’s initial negotiating principles as his own when it comes to Ukraine and said that he thought that the country may anyway “be Russian one day”. He wants to get back into doing business with Russia too. But he goes further into the realms of bully-backing with his statement on Monday that “you don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and then hope that people give you missiles”.

Again, Zelensky didn’t start the war. The US, UK, Russia and Ukraine did sign a memorandum in Budapest guaranteeing Kyiv security after Ukraine gave up its nuclear missiles in 1994. France and China backed the Budapest memo with their own document. Ukraine, a western democracy with ambitions to join the European Union, is a sovereign nation that Putin has said he wants to bring back into the post-Soviet Russian empire. Putin has also said he has designs on the Baltic states, Moldova and Romania. Support for Ukraine is a necessary condition of Europe’s defence. America’s network of allies in Nato and beyond have been the weft of Washington’s tapestry of alliances that have made it a global super power.

To Trump, though, it’s getting in the way of turning the world into spheres of influence in which the US, Russia, and China carve up the planet. That’s also, by the way, Putin’s vision. “I believe, sadly, (that) Russian narratives are prevailing in the US," said Zelensky at the weekend in an interview with CBS. “How is it possible to witness our losses and our suffering, to understand what the Russians are doing, and to still believe that they are not the aggressors, that they did not start this war? This speaks to the enormous influence of Russia's information policy on America, on US politics and US politicians.”

That may cost him dearly. When Trump ranted at Zelensky in March during the Ukrainian president’s official visit to the Oval Office, Trump reiterated how deeply loyal he felt to Putin because the Russian president had been accused of backing his candidacy in 2016. “Let me tell ya, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me – we went through a phony witch hunt when they used him and Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia,” Trump raged, as he got increasingly incoherent during the White House attack on Zelensky. “That was a phony Hunter Biden, Joe Biden scam. Hillary Clinton, shifty Adam Schiff, it was a Democrat scam. And [Putin] had to go through that. And he did go through it. We didn‘t end up in a war. And he went through it.” This gobbledygook makes little sense. It does, however, reveal the depth of his feelings for Putin who, at least since 2016, he has seen as sharing a trench with The Donald in the wider campaign to undermine the American oligarch.

Trump soon suspended military aid and then intelligence sharing with Kyiv after the Oval Office row, which coincided with Putin’s campaign to free the Kursk region captured by Ukraine in Russia last year. Trump has turned America’s system of alliances with the west upside down and inside out. His evisceration of America’s security establishment with ideological purges, attacks on the US judiciary, federal bureaucracy, education system and the Constitution itself have been combined with a wholesale trashing of Washington’s soft power and humanitarian operations. This all serves the interests of the Kremlin. It’s Making Moscow Great Again.

A former KGB chief, Putin has reinforced his relationship with Trump by stroking his vanity. He’s relentless in his cultivation of the US president. In his most recent effort he sent a portrait of the US president painted in Russia to the White House in the care of Steve Witkoff, Trump’s chief Ukraine negotiator. Witkoff said his boss thought he painting was “beautiful”.

The bad news is that Trump’s narcissism is Russia’s greatest strategic asset.

Is anyone surprised? Nothing matters more to Trump than a grudge. That pee tape story? Trump doesn't actually have that fetish -- we would have heard about that than Stormy Daniels. But Trump was willing to pay Russian prostitutes to defile a bed Obama had slept in. He is that petty and vindictive. And Obama never did anything to him, other than be president while black.

My advice to Vance is, if you don't like the feedback, don't say it to start with.

As it is, we all know Vance supports Putin. He's made that more than clear.

Zelenskyy responds to Trump's envoy Witkoff's "five territories" remarks

Tuesday, 15 April 2025 — Khrystyna Bondarieva

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on the statement made by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, who said the key to a peace deal revolves around "five territories".
"Ukraine is a sovereign state, and only the Ukrainian people can speak about its territories. All territories belong to the unitary state of Ukraine. Once again – only the Ukrainian people can speak about our territories. And you know what our red lines are – we will never recognise any temporarily occupied territories as Russian.

Therefore, these individuals are discussing matters beyond their mandate," Zelenskyy said at a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Odesa
, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

Witkoff stated on Fox News that a peace deal would involve settling the issue of "so-called five territories", though he did not specify which ones. Previously, in a high-profile interview with Tucker Carlson, Witkoff claimed that the biggest issue in this conflict was the "so-called four regions", but then listed five: "Donbas, Crimea, Luhansk, and two more". Meanwhile, on April 15, Sergey Naryshkin, head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), claimed that one of Moscow’s demands for ending the war is that Ukraine recognize Russia’s “current territorial borders.”

Guess Trump's hopes of an Easter ceasefire and a Nobel Prize are vanishing fast - there won't be any ceasefire, not even a fake one, Witkoff's fake "negotiations" are going nowwhere, and Trump looks weaker and weaker with every week that passes. What a loser. And really, all he had to do was stand behind Ukraine and send a few hundred old Bradleys, a dozen Patriot systems and a hundred F16's and old A10's and he'd ave been a winner. Now? He's a loser who manages to make Biden look decisive.

How many passes does Trump have to give to Putin before the bulk of the GOP finally admits he’s on the Kremlin payroll and moves to impeach him?
Come to think of it, he could still, again, be impeached for that phone call with Zelenskyy. There's no privilege against double jeopardy in impeachment.

Oops.

I wonder what else Democrats were wrongly berated and/or ridiculed for???

🤔

Basic governing??? National security??? The economy??? The environment??? Diplomacy??? Defending democracy??? Defending human rights???

🤔

We. Told. Them. So.

Well of course Russia keeps incrementing the "root causes" that need to be addressed/ Witkoff has been a pushover for everything e;se Russia has demanded.

Look to see Trump demanding that Zelensky has to go with increasing bluster and pressure exerted on Ukraine soon.

US may drop Russia-Ukraine ceasefire efforts unless progress is made, Rubio says

The U.S. will cease its attempts to negotiate a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia in the following days if there is no signal that an agreement is reachable, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on April 18, Reuters reported. Speaking after meeting European and Ukrainian officials in Paris, Rubio said that U.S. President Donald Trump is interested in reaching a deal but has other priorities as well.Trump began his presidency by pledging to broker a ceasefire within 24 hours, eventually extending this deadline to 100 days. These efforts have largely stalled, as Russia continues to reject a full 30-day ceasefire backed by Washington and Kyiv, and a partial truce on strikes against energy facilities has failed to hold.

The White House has grown increasingly frustrated, with Trump chastising both Ukraine and Russia for failing to reach a deal. The U.S. president has also repeatedly laid the blame for the war on President Volodymyr Zelensky and former U.S. President Joe Biden, calling Russia's invasion "Biden's war." Kyiv supported an unconditional ceasefire during talks with the U.S. in Jeddah on March 11 but also stressed that a comprehensive peace deal must include security guarantees—a commitment that Trump has been reluctant to make. Moscow rejected the ceasefire proposal unless it included conditions undermining Ukraine's defense capabilities, including a full halt on military aid. The Kremlin also called for a ban on Ukraine joining NATO and full control over the partially occupied Ukrainian oblasts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia as part of a peace deal. Ukraine has said it would never recognize the Russian occupation of its sovereign territory.

Abandoning Ukraine, US Secretary of State Rubio implies that only Europe can end the war - by lifting sanctions on Russia. It’s chilling how nonchalantly he brings up the lifting of sanctions on Russia. It's if he does not comprehend that this would lead to massive slaughter of not only Ukrainians, but quite likely of the people of the Baltic States. He seems completely detached from European reality. In fact the entire Trump Administration seems detached from the reality of what Russia is. Not in Putin's wildest dreams did he ever dream to have the USS just stand aside while he tried to rebuild the USSR. Trump and Rubio are literally folding their hand and walkimg away. Canceling aid to Ukraine without putting pressure on Russia is exactly what Putin needs and wants. At least now Ukraine can also take the gloves off and resume annihilating the Russian oil industry.

It seems Trump has realized he cannot stop the war in 24 hours, and rather than reccognize that Russia is NOT negotiating in good faith and wants the war to continue, and that Ukraine will NOT roll over for him like a toy poodle, Trump will do his best to continue to aid his buddy Putin by simply washing his hands of Ukraine and walking awayl While NOT selling Ukraine any weapons or munitions. Sad to say, Trump has destroyed the USA as anyone's ally, and he has destroyed the export market of US weapons at one and the same time. That was one industry where we continued to dominate the world market. Guess that will evaporate too. When Canada starts to looks elsewhere, you know that one is done.

47 doesn't have patience.

Sadly, it's obvious that dear leader will blame Ukraine for our withdraw from talks. Obviously they've already started to blame our allies.

Art of the deal

47 doesn't have patience.

Sadly, it's obvious that dear leader will blame Ukraine for our withdraw from talks.

Atho if he walks away, there's no point in Ukraine continuing with the distraction of the fake mineral extortion scheme. And it will also force Europe to get real.

That said, after the US walks away from this, and after being abandoned in Afghanistan, the USA will never be able to pull Europe into America's foreign adventures again. It's not so much America First now, as America Alone. Hope Taiwan understands the implications and starts to take China's threats seriously.

In 100 days, Trump has cionducted a masterclass in how to project weakness, destroy American credibility on a world stage and sever ties with pretty much every ally and friend we have.

As an add-on extra, he's killed US military equipment export sales and ensured that in any future conflict, America will have to go it alone.

How to go from THE world superpower to an irrelevancy and a distraction in 3 months.

Oh! And ensure a rash of nuclear proliferation as a bonus.

Genius move! Brilliant! Winning all the way!
