A Grumman Goose...designed in the late '30s.
About 20+ still fly.
A friend has one, I've flown in it often.
Once we landed on a famous river in the Western U.S., we were surrounded by rocky cliffs that turned gold when the sun rose. Not a sound. Unbelievable.
Another time we landed in a lake which is the locale of a well known resort and pricey homes overlooking the shore. A wealthy (judging by the estate she came out of) attractive middle aged woman came out on her jet ski to ask if we were okay, I think she thought we ditched.
Quite a aircraft, and not a bad boat.

Such a romantic idea… being able to fly and land in almost any body of water…

It’s probably not the most comfortable way to travel.. still the possibilities.

I wondered about that...it served in WW2 as the C 47.

My friend's has a comfortable interior, has seats for 7 in back, plus two up front. You wear a headset to block the noise and to talk to each other. Lots of snacks and bottled water. I always bring along a Milky Way bar. Great fun to see the towns and wilderness go by. On the water, you can climb on the top of the fuselage via the main or nose hatches. The wings make great diving boards.
You haven't lived until you've sat up front for a water landing! Every flight is an adventure.

The Grumman Goose has long been one of my favorite planes. I would love to have flown one when I was flying oh so many years ago.
