I always suggest that. Direct skin to skin contact is so much better for heat transfer.

I think the way you did it was better
I often do that too. I figure if anyone catches me I'd have an excuse... that I was actually looking for my clothes, and therefore actually intending to be fully dressed!

Around 8:30 this morning I retrieved a package from Amazon that was just out of reach while staying inside the door frame. I looked both ways and then took the plunge to go out on the front porch to pick up the package. As I closed the storm door behind me I noticed a lady out on her side stoop smoking at a home diagonally across the street. Well I hope I made her day just a little bit brighter!!!
