Bicoastal Musings and other Shenanigans

My heart is breaking for Ukraine as our government fails to uphold our promises to them and sides with an aggressor who threatens their territorial integrity and the viability of their sovereignty.

So many words marked for suspicion and removal. Now who is committing "cancel culture"? This is an evolving tragedy setting us up for a McCarthy style era of hunting down non-conformers.

Both sides use our words and language to control and manipulate. It really is shameful. I am curious what you're using as a source. You can PM me if you wish as I don't want to distract from your lovely space.

I once saw a bird eating gravel on a cold day. My heart ached to see a bird so hungry it would eat dirt to fill its stomach with anything it could find. It turns out, the bird was eating grit, tiny pieces of rock, which helps the gizzard digest food. I once watched a “kindergarten” class of baby crows learning to eat grit from the gravel roof of a carport. The parent, depicted below, was demonstrating how to select the perfect piece of grit, not too sharp, not too big. The baby crow rolled the gravel around in its mouth, then spit it out. The parent crow’s advice to both its baby and me:

“In times like these, your need grit to stomach what is happening.”
