Will this terrible tragedy in Cal turn Cal red?

Must be a shitty life if "owning the Libs" is what gives you pleasure.
That is the Hidden Deplorables Theory in a nutshell. They don't really expect Trump to make their situation better at all; they just want everyone else to be as miserable as they are.

You must be right. All they did was bitch about Libs during Bidens term, and all they are doing now is bitching about Libs during Trump's term.

Rebuilding exactly what was approved and built could be automatically approved. Refusing that automatic approval invites the argument that the original approval was a mistake by an incompetent commission. Across the state, many residents don't bother with approvals and inspections. They know the inspectors won't go to dangerous neighborhoods. So the fuck the state build it now residents become a larger percentage of the population as the wealthier residents who live by the rules and pay twice or four times the cost to do everything legally get tired of living in vans and trailers for years and GTFO.

Add in the quiet part is that you have to PAY for that approval to rebuild.

After the Thomas Fire here, the cost for a building permit exceeded $25,000. I have no idea what Pacific Palisades residents are required to pay but it's not going to be cheap. Places like Moon Shadows and the homes which were right on the beach are going to pay more than that, and that's IF the California Coastal Commission will even authorize the permits.

In a decade most of what was there will still be empty derelict land and LA icons will no longer exist. This is the lesson we learned here, and those in Northern California who suffered loss because of the Cave Fire, have learned after a wildfire destroyed everything.

And the stupid politicians NEVER think of the loss of tax revenue for those missing homes and businesses and residents. Instead they delay, deny, and shuffle paper while requiring payment for them to do nothing.

Building codes have changed (for the better) over the years.

Hopefully all new construction in the fire-prone areas will be required to be more fire-resistant.

Well now the Marxist government of Los Angeles has only issued 31 new building permits since the fire:

Rick Caruso Warns: Los Angeles at ‘Tipping Point’ of Failure; Only 31 Rebuilding Permits Approved

Developer Rick Caruso warned Wednesday that Los Angeles is at the “tipping point” of failure in the effort to recover from the Palisades Fire, adding that the private sector should be given a greater role in the recovery.

Caruso, who ran against Mayor Karen Bass in 2022, published an 0p-ed at the website of his new non-profit foundation, Steadfast LA, which has worked to provide solutions to challenges in the rebuilding process.

In his essay, published on the four-month anniversary of the fire, Caruso warned that the city had adopted a self-congratulatory posture while ignoring the major challenges still facing displaced residents, and that it was failing to help those trying to rebuild their homes.

He noted that only 31 rebuilding permits had been approved by the city, and that residents feel that much of what the city is doing is being a “veil of secrecy.”

Just as I predicted months ago. The Communist Mayor and the angry females she's hired to govern the city have failed the people of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles doesn't have a Marxist government.

It's not just LA, the entire government of California has failed the people.

Even Newsom has surrendered his duty to the people of California. Latest prediction is $8.64 a gallon by next year for gas.

Yeah, saw that. Not sure it's going to happen because the people might not accept it.

In any event, I was considering downsizing after I retire and moving northward but staying in California.

That's not happening now because I'm no longer sure that the mess the D's have made can be salvaged without major economic and social pain on the population. Others may feel differently about it, but most of them have their heads so far up each other's ass their beliefs aren't worth the shit they're swallowing while in residence.

Villanueva thinks he can turn things around but he doesn't have a chance at getting elected because most GOP know his record as Sheriff and it's not favorable and he just switched parties so the D's aren't going to vote for him either. Steve Hilton is BSing everyone if he thinks he has a chance. He's so out of his league he won't get past the fundraising let alone the primaries. He's such a poor candidate Kamala could probably beat him.

No, our next Gov will be Rob Bonta, mark my words. And California will continue to sink into decay and not have a clue why.

California legislators have openly claimed illegal aliens as their constituents, an admission that underscores the Democratic Party’s long-term strategy of importing and entrenching millions of non-citizens into the state. The consequences are increasingly visible: infrastructure decay, overwhelmed public services, and cultural fragmentation. Rather than assimilate newcomers into a thriving American ideal, the state appears to be conforming to the dysfunction many of them fled. California isn’t progressing, it’s regressing into a managed decline reminiscent of the very Third World conditions its political class pretends to improve.

Latinos are not reliable as potential Dem voters -- too socially conservative.

Hey, the cockroaches are happy as long as the e-rooms et al provide service and they get their WIC cards.
