The Atlantic story detailing how Trump aides inadvertently invited the magazine's editor to a Signal chat where highly sensitive information about a military strike was shared has easily become the top news story of the year globally, according to new data.

A spokesperson for The Atlantic said it was "one of the top subscription driving stories" for the magazine of all time.

Why it matters: Rarely do U.S. national security stories gain this much traction so quickly around the world.

#SignalGate is more than just a revelatory report, it's a viral sensation that's driving meme mania online.

#SignalGate was the top story in the world across all English-language articles, according to NewsWhip, which measures social media engagement across Facebook and X.

I'm thinking 5 eyes and the rest of the worlds interconnected security groups will be very careful on what they now share with the US. Most information I suspect would be sanitised versions to protect sources and personnel.

This could lead to another 9/11, but hey Trump always picks the "best" people.....

Always the best!

And always has "the best" voting for him, as this forum shows. 😄

Hahaha.
I mean think about it, less than 100 days in and despite the economic stupidity of tariffs, the threatening of our allies, the embarrassment of the Zelenskyy attack, dismantling of government services - it’s THIS that has captivated and rightfully so because it takes a lot, and I mean like how many were on that call again? 8? 9 heads of fuckin idiots to outdo 1 trump.

Exactly.

'He’ll be gone in a couple of weeks': Trump insiders predicting ouster over chat debacle

Looks like Mike Waltz is in the hot seat and will take the fall on this one.

And a new article in Politico claims that "what started as a group chat has turned into a circular firing squad."

LOL. They can make excuses all they like but it's a colossal security fuckup.

Waltz should've offered his resignation, regardless. The entire chat used signal, which is not allowed. It discussed real time attack plans and obviously included a journalist.

If this administration is serious about security they aren't acting like it.

This has been a fascinating exercise in power plays.

The eleven billionaires (and little Marco Rubio and JD Vance) were all comfortable with using Signal, the 'back channel of choice' to the White House from the first Trump regime. As a group they balked about using some new DOD/CIA program to communicate with each other, better to use Signal and have the Russkies and Chinese eavesdrop than have "deep state' CIA/FBI/NSA rogue agents decrypting their convos for possible political blackmail (Interesting priorities, no?).

So CIA Director John Ratcliffe was getting strong pushback from CIA agents against using Signal.

Ratcliffe, a man whose primary ambition in life is to lick Carrot Caligula's shoes regularly, formally asked the White House to allow the cabinet secretaries use Signal anytime, anywhere, from any phone. Susie Wiles. Trump's Chief of Staff, said "whatever, just make those guys happy". Ratcliffe asked for this permission in writing...and got it. (Purportedly classified permission at a very high level).

So the White House Chief of Staff has established a new precedent and claims the authority to alter 80 year old National Security policy based on her own political whims.

Truly, this is Teh gOlDeN aGe Of AmErIcA

Fairly sure they did this last time.
Only reasonable to do this again with these traitors
