I learned a thing or 2 sitting behind home plate in the minors....
pitchers charting was fun. Who doesn't want a radar gun by their temporal lobe.

Scouts came and went. That's how I met Brian cashman, and other yankee greats. even Rueben Amaro Jr sat next to my hubs. Had Torrie Wilson sit behind me when A-Rod had a rehab assignment.

The only time I rubbed elbows with sports people was MANY years ago by serving submarine sandwiches or pizza to a couple of Boston Celtics players that occasionally frequented the restaurant.

Then again, aside from a few Fenway trips to watch the game and drink beer in the bleachers I've only been to one pro football game, one pro hockey game and one pro tennis match so I didn't really have a lot of other chances to meet other people's heroes.
