President Donald Trump has said that he will pay the astronauts who were left in space for months for their work out of his "own pocket" if necessary after they were left with little pay.

Fox News' Peter Doocy said that the astronauts "didn't get any overtime pay for all that extra time. They got $5 a day per diem for 286 days, that is $1,430 in extra pay. Is there anything the administration can do to make them whole?"

The first step to colonizing Mars is to build a self-sufficient community at the South Pole. Working out the kinks of a Mars colony here on Earth is a lot cheaper than shipping two dozen people 140 million miles away just so they can starve to death.

At the very least ensuring children are vaccinated against preventable viruses. Imagine how much the public health of children in the US could be improved by just a portion of the money was used of the cost of going to Mars.

There's nothing left to do that can't be done on the ground. Interplanetary travel is a scifi fantasy. Just going to the moon is a huge expense and risk of astronauts' lives just to kick rocks again.
