The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

This one has never wanted to learn lessons taught by others, always wanted to learn them the hard way. The "pain method" of learning seems to stick better here.
I have some family with the same learning style.
Hard to watch and sounds exhausting for them... but yeah, it tends to "stick" better for them. 🤷‍♀️

Time to hit that grindstone again...
My day's about to get busy - and then I have an appointment after work. So I may not be as active on Lit as I was yesterday.

That sounds like a great trip!

Thanks! Time off was hectic but very enjoyable... my Lovely Wife is doing well, but we're both very tired of the relentless winds we've been having.
The wind here scares me.... there is a Field behind my house, and the trees that were back there I had to cut down because they were too close to the house and d e a d. The wind hits my house going about 90. Feels like all my siding is going to fall off. We had an F1 tornado last year, and it was so scary, I wonder if that made me a little bit more fearful. I grew up in a house that was built in 1870s, and solid as a rock. My house not so much.

I am so independent that marriage would be a disaster for me... I would be a great girlfriend though....
Lol and not lol. It's great that your honest but even greaterer that your honest with yourself.

That level of introspection shows a commitment to setting expectations and boundaries that are attainable and obvious.

I know what you mean... it gets spooky. Fortunately, we're remote enough to not have many ignition sources and our external siding is metal.

Good morning everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve logged on, and real life events are dragging me away from Lit. I’ll still pop in occasionally, but I wanted to thank everyone here. This is the one board where I could open up, get on my soapbox, and generally be myself without posing for the rest of the world. I hope you all stay safe and take care.

Come visit as often as you can
... we will keep the home fires burning the coffee pot on and the key is under the welcome mat

So for the unwashed…here’s your BBQ primer…

NC BBQ - split into Eastern NC (vinegar based sauce w spices) and Western NC (Tomato/ketchup/molasses or sweet)
SC BBQ - mustard based sauce. Good but not my fav…

Both of these mainly piggy

Tennessee - Dry rub spice
KC - a mix of dry rub spice and sweet sauce

Mainly beef and Tennessee mostly ribs

TX - spicer sauces with a healthy mix of the rub and others. Brisket is king

BBQ is kind of like sex…even when it’s bad…it’s still pretty good! 😂
If I could up vote this comment more times I would. Spot on in a way i had never put together on my own.

Dry rub only, for me, has to be done to perfection. Any dryness is exposed and ruins it for me. I like a constant wetting along the entire process. (Insert Beavis and Butthead meme)

Thanks, brother. Good to “see” you, even if it was just for a moment.

You’re always welcome at our bar.

ever got into the traditional Godzilla movies but the one with Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno? I've watched that one more than half a dozen times.
Two things:
1. sorry, I know it’s personal opinion, but that is considered the worst Godzilla movie ever made!! (By us Godzilla snobs, of course) and
2. Wasn’t Jean Reno the attorney general during the Clinton years??

Yep, got one I just shake my head at. In general, this one is pointed in the 'right direction'. But there's a whole big pile of lessons waiting to be learned the hard way. This one has never wanted to learn lessons taught by others, always wanted to learn them the hard way. The "pain method" of learning seems to stick better here. Had one "big scary lesson" jut the other day (OK, it really was nothing, but seemed huge from their perspective. LOL! 🤣). Rather than call and ask advice first...

Like I said, headed in the right direction in general, just zig-zagging between some life lessons on the way.
I think they’ll turn out just fine!!
