You’re actually right, lust might drive younger pairings, but love adds a deeper, more meaningful layer to relationships, especially as characters age. It’s true that societal norms often judge age gaps harshly, but love can transcend those superficial judgments. Aging might bring flaws, but it also brings wisdom, connection, and a kind of beauty that goes beyond physical attraction. Stories that explore love over lust, especially in taboo dynamics, could add so much emotional depth and complexity. Great insight!I think the question is one of love vs. lust. Beyond the 'sexy' years, a mother and son or father and daughter wouldn't necessarily be engaging in that behavior on pure lust. An 18 year old and a 30 year old seems, in my mind, a reasonable leap for pure sexual desire.
In American society, a 60 year old with a 20 year old on their hip is cause for gossip. Gold digger? Old person trying to feel young? Really, love seems, to me, to be the factor capable of seeing the beauty in the flaws.
None of us really age all that gracefully. Attraction is the rule when we're young, but the heart powers us as we age.
