Why are writers so scared of of the 40-50 age range for the Mother character? More often than not it's the 18 year old son and his 36,37 or 38 year old mom, I mean, sure it's perfectly possible but feels like the 40-50 age range is much much more realistic.. yes, it's a story, one can make up any scenario one wants. It's possible this is a bias on my end, but i feel like the 40-50 range is more exciting; the taboo-ness is heightened because they are older, wiser and generally expected to be more uptight (idk if this makes sense), yet women in this age range are still perfectly beautiful and sexy.. 38 is still too young in my personal opinion... Hell, I am almost 38 but in my head I still feel like I am 25 lol

It's likely the author's attempt to reconcile their desire to portray something taboo, but also not really into "Older" women. So they get creative to make both work.

I think the better option is a step mother, because it seems slightly more likely that an older father would remarry a younger woman. Plus the non-blood relation would make it also more probable.

Maybe I'm being presumptuous but it sounds like you're speaking from a place of self interest.

I can see that, but I would say incest is something I enjoy reading about, however as I laid out as a possible explanation, I would rather read a story with an 18M & 35F Stepmother, than a 18M and 50F blood Mother.

I think the question is one of love vs. lust. Beyond the 'sexy' years, a mother and son or father and daughter wouldn't necessarily be engaging in that behavior on pure lust. An 18 year old and a 30 year old seems, in my mind, a reasonable leap for pure sexual desire.
In American society, a 60 year old with a 20 year old on their hip is cause for gossip. Gold digger? Old person trying to feel young? Really, love seems, to me, to be the factor capable of seeing the beauty in the flaws.

In the video porn landscape, step is much more prevalent.. this is largely because financial institutions linked to porn and tubesites don't want any drama or risk of legal action, so they basically force/influenced creators to label their product as Step.

In the overall, it is my opinion that that majority of family porn consumers prefer proper incest.. but this doesn't mean that everyone hates step, there are definitely people who prefer Step stuff and there are people like us who prefer proper stuff but understand the limitations and just going with the flow

I tend to have coming-of-age type stories in mind, so - late teen/early 20, which generally means the mother would be 40-50. Sure, lots of women are having kids later in life now... but I guess "my generation", mothers were more in that age range.

I suppose a reality of some of these relationships is that the parent is in their 30s and the son or daughter younger than what can be portrayed here.
